How You Can Help Bring Back Disney’s Citizens of Hollywood

in Walt Disney World

Cast Members Portraiting Disney's Citizens of Hollywood

When we heard that the Citizens of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were among the entertainment Cast Members at Disney World being laid off, another piece of magic fell from our hearts.

The Citizens of Hollywood immersed Guests into Sunset Boulevard, and were the theme parks longest running show. But we don’t necessarily have to say goodbye just yet…

If you want to help the Cast Members who bring the Citizens of Hollywood to life, there are a few ways you can contribute and make sure that you say thank you to them directly!

On the official Facebook page — Disney’s Hollywood Studios Citizens of Hollywood — the Citizens have put out a call to action for Disney Guests who love their shows. There are two ways we can help support the Cast Members during this time and both are free!

Email Disney

The first option is to email Disney directly and tell them why you do not want to see the Citizens of Hollywood gone forever. Their Facebook post stated:

If you have ever been to Walt Disney World and have been positively impacted by the Citizens of Hollywood, PLEASE send Disney an email.

Email: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com
guest.services@disneyworld.com

As the parks get busier and the ride lines are long, Disney may look into bringing back entertainment. Let’s show them how loved and missed the Citizens are – you never know the impact it could have.

In a previous post, the Citizens of Hollywood said,

“Disney did a massive lay-off of most live shows including Nemo, Lion King, Indiana Jones, Beauty and the Beast, Hoop-Dee-Doo, Citizens of Main Street, Citizens of Hollywood, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor and more. Some of these shows will likely return in the future when business picks up. Let’s hold on to hope that the Citizens can return.”

From both of these posts alone, it is clear to see that the Citizens of Hollywood have not given up hope that they may one day return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to perform to us once more. Although we do not know when or what shows (if any) may return, the Citizens are hoping that they would be included in the lucky bunch of returning Actors’ Equity entertainment Cast Members.

Share Your Memories

If you want to say thank you to the Citizens of Hollywood, you can! They just shared that a new Google Drive has been opened for each Cast Member where you can share your photos and videos with them.

We just created a Google Drive with folders for each Citizen. Please add your photos and videos so the Citizens have a place to look at all of the memories we captured of them over the years.

What better way to say thank you then to show these Cast Members the smiles and effect they had on you.

The news of the entertainment layoffs were tragic to hear, and unfortunately we now know over 700 equity performers have been let go from the Walt Disney Company and only 60 remain employed.
