If you’ve been frustrated trying to make Disney Resort Hotel reservations for your favorite home away from home, you might want to try booking for later this fall. Informative tweets from reporters online have shown potential reservations may be made in late August, September, and October for landmark Disney Resorts that have been serving as NBA Disney Hotels.
NBA to Gradually Vacate Disney Hotels
It appears that Disney’s Iconic Yacht Club Resort will open to guests on August 24, 2020, as the NBA completes playoff games. On twitter, @ChrisBHaynes posts that NBA teams being eliminated on or before August 12 will depart the NBA Disney campus immediately after their game, checking out post-shower, meal, and making their way to the airport.
Yahoo Sources: NBA teams that have been mathematically eliminated on or before Aug. 12 will depart campus immediately after their final game has ended. Following game, teams will shower in designated rooms at the Coronado Springs Resort, receive meal and take team bus to airport. – @ChrisBHaynes

The Disney Bubble, as it’s been known, has been home to NBA players for several weeks as they attempt to complete their season games and playoff brackets. Despite major health measures, some team members (and staff) still ended up testing positive as the bubble kicked off. Mid-July was the last positive report, with two players being sent home (these players never cleared initial quarantine), showing that mandatory masks and quarantine bubbles do work to keep teams safe and isolated.
More NBA Disney Hotels Will Clear
Referencing the same tweet thread from above, we can see that later this fall, following Disney’s Yacht Club, the deluxe Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will open to Disney Guests on September 21, 2020. Then later this fall, as the NBA season is capped off, the Coronado Springs Resort will resume Guests reservations on October 14, 2020.
By the end of October, we Disney fans should have a lot more choice about where to stay, and Guests with existing reservations should see a lot less changing of Resorts, rooms, etc. as the Disney Hotels continue a phased reopening. Of course, if you are scheduling a visit, please contact Academy Travel for help navigating the recent changes of Disney Park Pass, ticketing, and mask guidelines. It’s a lot to take in as the Most Magical Place on Earth shakes off the cobwebs.
