It’s also Rodgers & Hammerstein, which means it’s a LOT more tuneful than any of the songs from Hamilton (I guarantee you will be trying to get “Impossible” out of your head months longer than “My Shot”)…

Problem seems to be, like other missing classics, that Disney+ wants to pitch itself to HD sets, and their production was a 90’s TV-movie that hasn’t been upgraded to Disney Movie Club Blu-ray disk yet. Disney?…Get to work.

Toni Braxton also made history in 1998 when she became the first African-American to play Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on Broadway.

I’ve seen it, and it was good. However, I’ll bet there is more to this story than a racial feature movie. The rights to the music are often the main reasons musicals are not offered on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney + and other online sites. If I remember correctly, it is actually the Rogers and Hammerstein musical – from the script to the music, so it is very likely Disney doesn’t have those rights.

Michelle, I was just about to mention that. It is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, so while Disney got the rights for the original production and distribution, they may not have rights for digital release.
