Taika Waititi Has Hilarious Reactions to Emmy Nominations

At this point, actor and director Taika Waititi is well-and-truly part of the Star Wars family.

He is currently in the process of writing the script for the next theatrical Star Wars movie release, directed The Mandalorian Season 1 Chapter 8 – Redemption, and voiced droid IG-11 throughout the first season of the hit Disney+ series.

For the latter, Waititi received an Emmy nomination, which was one of 15 nods for The Mandalorian, including the coveted Outstanding Drama Series.

Waititi, who is active on social media, took to Twitter to hilariously react to his nomination:

He wrote, “The entire planet is buzzing about me being nominated for my robotic acting. Guys, there are other nominees outside of the coveted Voice-over Character category. Ugh, it can’t be all about me ALL OF THE TIME!”

Waititi also shared the Television Academy’s official Tweet listing all of the nominees in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category for the upcoming 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Waititi captioned his re-Tweet, “Some people’s acting skillz are so powerful that they don’t even need to use their face! #Emmys2020″

Waititi also acknowledged the cast and crew of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, a comedy series based on a film the Thor: Ragnarok director’s 2014 film of the same name. The team was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.

With his characteristic sarcasm, Waititi wrote, “The idea that never dies. Congrats to everyone who decided to drag this joke-turned-movie into the world of television. Especially to @AJemaineClement who I tricked into doing it in the first place. Suckaaaa!”

According to IMDB, Waititi currently has six films and television series in the works:

It is worth noting that the director’s upcoming Star Wars project has officially been pushed back along with James Cameron’s next four Avatar films.
