Should have cancelled the Splash Mountain tethered project.

I do agree. Besides Spaceship Earth is the icon of Epcot and is much more in need of a refurb. It gets a lot of wear and tear since it doesn’t come down seasonally like Splash Mountain.

Leave Splash mountain as it is

I also agree with y’all. I’m for BLM and I’d like to hear from them about Splash Mountain and what they’d like to see and then proceed.
I don’t know what to think about Spaceship Earth refurb because I haven’t seen what they plan to do. The animitrons (?) tell a great story, old for us APs new to many others. My favorite part of SE is actually the Your Future video with your photo superimposed. Because it fails to be delivered to my email, we record it on our phones to enjoy at home and love trying to get new videos each visit.
As for Mary Poppins – what took you so long Disney?! Can’t wait!

That’s your “favorite” part of SE??
I still got misty seeing all those Internet connections reach out into space as the music swelled, at the end of the old Jeremy Irons show…

They probably might cancel the tethered project too. You never know.

The situation being what it is, I can’t blame Disney. Rest assured that the refurb of Spaceship Earth and the addition of Mary Poppins will return. After all, no good idea is ever forgotten with the team from Disney Imagineering – delayed, yes – but not forgotten!

Then…we might still get the Galaxy Starcruiser AFTER all??
(Or just rehabbed into another DVC resort, like Pop Century: Legendary Years was?)

You don’t know if the refurbishment or Mary Poppins will return.

Whats going to happen if sse breaks down??? Are they going to get rid of the icon of the park its sad about mary but having a ride that has been wo a rehab for 10yr+ thats dangerous!

Spaceship Earth may be outdated, but there’s plenty of life left in it. It’s such a relaxing ride. The Three Caballeros needs to be re-imagined before Spaceship Earth. Coco would be perfect. I’m very surprised to see any interest in Mary Poppins, certainly not enough to dedicate an entire section to her. Just having the character walk around the UK is probably enough. I feel a bigger draw to the UK area would be something centered around the movie “Brave”. There’s so much needing to be completed (Moana, Guardians of the Galaxy, Space 220, Ratatouille) before jumping into Spaceship Earth.

Larry you aparently do not know sse and how often it breaks down nor how much cms were cheering to have done time if it does not get it i agree w mark its gone!

      1. Larry

You’re correct; I haven’t seen it break down during the times I’ve ridden it. However, nearly every visit it will suddenly stop, but that’s to allow handicapped guest to get on and off. Or, maybe not….
