In 1998, Disney released an updated version of the beloved The Parent Trap film which helped make Lindsey Lohan the star she is today. The official description of the movie reads:
In this update of a 1961 film, twins Annie and Hallie (Lindsay Lohan) are strangers until happenstance unites them. The preteen girls’ divorced parents, Nick (Dennis Quaid) and Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson), are living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each with one child. After meeting at camp, American Hallie and British-raised Annie engineer an identity swap, giving both the chance to spend time with the parent they’ve missed. If the scheme works, it might just make the family whole again.
But for all of you The Parent Trap fans, we have some great news to share!
Nancy Meyers, director, teased some big The Parent Trap news not too long ago on her Instagram, though we weren’t sure exactly what is was. “Yayyyy! Finally I can share my PARENT TRAP news with you tomorrow! (Still not a sequel. )” she wrote.
But just recently Meyers announced that she has officially teamed up with Katie Couric to get some of the cast of The Parent Trap together for a reunion! Some of the cast coming back together includes Dennis Quaid (Nick Parker), Lisa Ann Walter (Chessy), Elaine Hendrix (Meredith Blake), and Simon Kunz (Martin). And of course, Lindsay Lohan (who played both Hallie and Annie) will join, as well!
“Sorry for the mini delay but the Secret’s Out! @katiecouric and I got the PARENT TRAP cast back together for the first time since we made our movie. We had a blast. You can see us all tomorrow July 20 at 9 AM on @katiecouric’s Instagram. #ParentTrapReunion,” Director Nancy Meyers wrote on her Instagram post.
According to People, “the cast will be discussing their favorite moments on set together, recite their characters’ most iconic lines, and discuss the film’s impact decades later.”
The Parent Trap reunion will be available to watch tomorrow, July 20, which marks 22 years since the movie was first released! Catch it on Katie Couric’s Instagram page.
