Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Discount

It appears Walt Disney World wants to show some gratitude to Annual Passholders who are returning to the theme parks.

A Disney World Cast Member confirmed with us today that Annual Passholders can now get 30% off merchandise at participating locations throughout the property. And later this afternoon, this news was further confirmed with more information in a press release from Disney regarding Annual Passholder information. We have since updated this article with more Passholder information from the Walt Disney World website.

She said, “the discount is good at most Walt Disney World® Resort Owned and Operated locations.”

The press release stated, “Beginning today, Passholders can receive 30% off select merchandise purchases at Walt Disney World Resort owned and operated merchandise locations now through August 14, 2020.”

Normally, Annual Passholders can receive up to 20% off at participating locations, and that original discount was in effect at the Annual Passholder Preview last week.

This is the latest discount news for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders. Walt Disney World has updated its Annual Passholder perks which include new and exclusive MagicBand designs, a 20% discount on Banshees and the Avatar Maker Program at Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and early registration for runDisney events.

At the beginning of July, we reported that Disney’s Swan and Dolphin will offer Annual Passholders 30% off their normal rates when they reopen on July 29.

Walt Disney World also updated its park pass policy. While Annual Passholder are only allowed to hold three days of park passes at a time–if they are not staying at a resort hotel–they will be able to replenish those passes on a rolling basis. That means, once they use one Park Pass, they will be able to make another one.

Taking all of this into consideration, as well as Disney allowing Annual Passholders to book park passes before pre-existing ticket holders, it is clear that Disney World is attempting to provide some perks to its Passholder despite the limiting circumstances.

This news also comes after we learned Walt Disney World has begun issuing partial refunds to Annual Passholders in lieu of the expiration date extension. Many have protested pay for their high-tier passes while Disney’s new park pass policy only allows Passholders not staying on property to book three park passes at a time, and eliminated the ability to park hop.
