It’s still a sad day for Disney fans waiting to become Annual Passholders. Florida residents and nationwide Disney lovers alike are watching existing ticket holders use the Disney Park Pass system to book a theme park reservation and enjoy the endless fun unlimited admission, and merchandise discounts therein. Hopeful passholders have been watching Disney’s guidance on ticket sales with bated breath, and it looks like it may stay that way for a while.
No Annual Passholder Sales at WDW
Confirmed via two different Walt Disney World Resort help chats, as well as a phone call to the Annual Passholder line this morning, confirms what we have expected as the Orlando Disney Parks reopen.
One Cast Member shared with us that at this tie, new annual passes are not available for purchase, even if a Guest were to attempt to buy one in person at Guest Relations. We confirmed this with another Cast Member, and we also called the V.I.Passholder phone line. At that time, we were told that although no new AP sales are available at this time, annual passholder sales may resume later this year.
Keep in mind that the Become an Annual Passholder web page on the Walt Disney World Resort official website also redirects to an AP Experience Updates page , so you are not even able to see all of the AP options at this time. Additionally, AP sales at Disneyland Resort in California are also on pause for the time being. Disney has not publicly stated when Annual Pass sales will resume at Disney World or Disneyland.
If you are looking to purchase a new Annual Pass or perhaps renew an expired pass, you’ll have to be patient with the rest of us as we wait for the return of ticket sales. You can read more below about the rollercoaster of emotions Annual Passholders have been on together as Walt Disney World reopens. There is also more (and developing) information available on the Walt Disney World Experience Updates for Annual Passholders page.
The Recent AP Saga at WDW
During the period of closure at Walt Disney World Resort, many Passholders were concerned and confused about what was happening to their pass status and the fact that they are paying for unuseable days at the Disney Parks. Disney responded with options to refund or waive Annual Passholder fees for that time. Some Disney fans elected to pause their payments and use the extensions of dates allowed, even after Disney offered a full extra month of season pass use when the Disney Park reopened, which is essentially a nice discount on the original price.
Later on, as the reopening neared with options to visit Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney shared Disney Park Pass tips for Annual Passholders (this is the Disney Park reservation system) to secure dates at the Parks. Most users found success for booking not only the Annual Passholder preview but also various length of stay vacations and more. Others shortly afterward were charged excessively while being on the Florida Resident monthly payment plan. While the error was rectified, many Annual Passholders at Walt Disney World Resort are choosing to lay low for a time period until they feel comfortable returning to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Existing Disney World Annual Passholders still have all the traditional perks such as special event options, hotel bookings and discounts that apply, a shopping Annual Passholder discount, and more. As Walt Disney World Resort fully reopens and picks up steam in the capacity department, we hope to see more tickets sales and Disney Annual Pass sales begin to develop. The Disney experience just isn’t the same without it! For the time being, a season passholder can expect various discounts, pass holder magnets via mail, and more.
