As Universal Studios Hollywood announced CityWalk’s reopening as of today, one of our reporters went down to scope out firsthand what it’s like with new health and safety protocols and procedures.

A limited amount of the retail stores and restaurants have reopened today, and since it’s the first day of reopening, it is still very quiet there.  This allowed for an in depth photo coverage from parking all the way throughout CityWalk to see what types of necessary precautions Universal is taking to ensure the well-being of all Team Members and Guests.  It’s the first step to starting a phased reopening of theme park amenities at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Parking

Even though it wasn’t busy, finding a parking spot was still a challenge which could be from the new social distancing procedures.  Cars are spaced out to every other spot in the parking structure.  This allows for more room between Guests and hopefully eliminating the touching of other Guests’ vehicles.  When you reach the security checkpoint, a security Team Member will scan for your temperature before allowing you to pass through.

CityWalk Social Distancing

As you make your way though CityWalk, there are ground markings to guide you in which direction to walk so that there is a better flow of traffic.  Each of the storefronts have marked spots for social distancing in case of a forming line, and each store has markings whether they currently open for operation or not.  Face coverings are required throughout your entire visit unless they must be off for activities such as, eating or drinking.  There is a consistent audio that is played and large signage as a reminder for the face coverings and social distancing.

CityWalk Cleaning

The hours of operation for CityWalk are currently 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., which allow for more sanitization time. Having a single point entry not only allows for a better flow of traffic and social distancing, but also it gives Team Members an easier time of monitoring what needs to be sanitized.  There are many Team Members constantly cleaning all around CityWalk.

Universal Studios Hollywood

The Universal Store is not one of the retail storefronts that has reopened today, and the theme park also remains closed for the time being.  Universal Studios Orlando theme park, CityWalk, and hotels have reopened at this time.  We will keep everyone updated with more as news comes along from the expanding the phased reopening.
