  1. Remaking The Black Cauldron as it stands would be, as they say, “gilding a turd” and Disney is well aware that the film was terrible. I sincerely hope that what they are planning is not a remake but an entirely new adaptation of the book series – otherwise it is not worth touching.

I hope that if they make a remake Live Action of “The Black Cauldron”, the Horned King will be faithful to the movie released in 1985 and its origins will be explained (if it was a sorcerer, a necromancer or of a fallen king become immortal or a living dead …) as well as for the cauldron (by who and how it was made as well as the origin of its magic).

The Chronicles of Prydain (the series of books in which the movie the Black Cauldron is loosely based) is absolutely amazing. It actually makes a stellar bedtime read to children.

The movie did not do it justice at all.

If they follow the books this time, it will be great. The animated film was the beginning of the first book and sort of the end of the second book.
