Disney Springs is gearing up for their reopening, the first of all the US Disney properties to venture in reopening in this post-pandemic world.
Disney Springs, the shopping, dining, and entertainment district at the Walt Disney World Resort is beginning its phased reopening this coming Wednesday, May 20th. Third-party businesses will lead the way followed by the additional Disney-owned merchants who are scheduled to reopen after Memorial Day.
Currently, these are some of the businesses that have announced they will be welcoming guests back starting May 20th:
- Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill
- STK Orlando
- Wine Bar George
- Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC
- The Polite Pig
- Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Co.
- Sunshine Churros
- Chicken Guy!
- Earl of Sandwich
- Planet Hollywood
- The Boathouse
- Frontera Cocina
- Blaze Pizza
Initially, restaurants in Florida were allowed to open at 25% capacity, however, in a recent press conference, Florida Governor DeSantis changed that to 50%. DeSantis also shared that Florida has entered the second half of its Phase One plan and hopes to continue moving into Phase 2, which will include Theme Parks having the ability to start reopening their doors.
New health and safety protocols at Disney Springs
Disney Springs will be reopening with all the state-mandated health and safety protocols in place to keep guests and cast safe; which has always been Disney’s top priority.
These currently include using paper/disposable menus, the encouragement of take-out and online orders, touchless hand sanitizer at entryways, hand sanitizer at every table, all employees must wear face masks, temperature checks for staff prior to their shift, doors to be wiped regularly, seated tables six feet apart to encourage social distancing, and more.
On a recent drive, we spotted one of the newly added health screening tents ready for Wednesday’s reopening. This photo shows the tent located at the bottom of the stairs of the Hotel Plaza Boulevard pedestrian bridge, next to the Disney Springs Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location.
