They said it would be APs only at first which is fine we are always the test dummies and thats fine too bc we are a limited number it could be a test to see if it works if it does good more guests if it doesn’t wait till its okay to just open it back up w nothing to worry about bc by then it will be back to normal w this time a distant memory! While i heard jan i also heard testing at water parks first before park parks which is smart its a limit time to begin w and they already limit the amount of guests also chlorine kills germs…. its a great test or even springs… i doubt the parks will manage w limits! They could try but watch the lines at guest relations go all the way to the buses bc people werent let in! Or the lawsuits!
Besides i doubt disney gets the whole picture and i know dvc isnt the whole picture but every dvc resort rooms are taken from soon till next yr! I barely got march next yr for my kids bday! But those people also do not get theres a long process to open things back up or i assume you not want rides going down left and right again watch the lines form at guest relations! I am also not going anywhere unless i know its clean powerwashing floors at Toy story land doesnt not make a clean theme park(s)!

Absolutely! The media hyped hysteria where the mortality rate is no worse than the flu is no reason to shut everything down forever.

    1. Avatar

      Lauren C

I’m just astounded by your comment. The mortality % is a whole lot more worrisome when you add in COVID’s communicability. This spreads much more easily than the flu, so the number of critical cases is overwhelming many hospitals even in cities with the stay-at-home mandate. The media is not overhyping this disease and you’re insane if you’re cool with catching it bc even the symptoms from stable cases sound nightmarish.

      1. Avatar

        Susie GV

The mortality rate is less than a full percentage point. Not sure where you’re getting your info from. But, if you’re afraid, stay home. No one is forcing you to travel or go to theme parks.

      2. Avatar

        DisneyDreamer

I live near a major city and the hospitals are not overwhelmed in the slightest. In fact, hospitals in my region just furloughed hundreds of employees.

Somewhere else i read someone mention a wavier enter at your own risk type of thing i def would go then ahead of masks that has already made me pass out…. forget talking through them to a cm if you need help 6 ft away etc OMG! The govenor will never let wdw go ahead of needed things! My moms a teacher and the students parents at her school are so ready to throw em out when school comes back etc. This is only one example you know how upset those people will be if disney went ahead of them?! Crazy ! I wamt to go back but i can wait as well!

  9. Avatar

    Cindy Caine

rather sign a agreement then not go or wear a mask that btw on the news since this started said it does nothing for you thats why drs and nurses get sick! Its also just the flu reports out of effected states are saying they are testing it! Also have you tried to honestly talk in a mask forget six ft apart and have a conversation let alone ask a cm where something is????? No tourist has that patience! Forget florida is 115 in the shade in the summer it also rains every afternoon and and hurricane season is on alot of our minds bc its supose to be really bad! I think thats going to affect us more esp if they extend stay at home more than when is the theme parks going to reopen… or better yet many are parents they like somewhere for their kids to go like school before they can go back to wrk! I know a few cms whom are like even if parks reopen what about my kids??? This isnt the good old days before 9/11 were kids could just wander wo security questioning it!

    1. Avatar

      Lauren C

I would definitely attend a soft opening if a mask was mandated and handwashing stations were set up around the park. The purpose of wearing a mask with COVID-19 going around is so the wearer of the mask doesn’t spread the disease if they have it. The communicability of COVID-19 is so intense because most people are asymptomatic when they’re spreading it. So, masks would help tremendously in a mass gathering in an interactive place like a Disney park where people are touching stuff all the time. I’m just concerned about people with disabilities and children, and their compliance with a mask mandate. It may be more challenging for those people to keep a mask on.

      1. Avatar

Yes I would volunteer. I work for a property management co and inspect vacation homes. So I don’t have work now so I would bring a friend and volunteer

      2. Avatar

        A impatient nurse

Masks should not be mandatory as its a violation against laws of state its not mandatory for the state a theme park does not go and make rules for anyone but cms they are not aloud under ANY circumstance able to go above government regulation and why this is all a mute point! It will go in level as planned have common sense disney isnt essential! Your going to have to wait! I am a nurse whom works at a dr office demended non essential for whats going on but i think i desreve to go back to wrk before your precious them park oh btw i know people whom are sick w the masks on! Just have common sense stay home if you feel that way! Theres many other airborne illnesses and other things that could easily get you sick and kill you and you didnt wear a mask then cindy has a brilliant pt! End of story.

Why is Disney being so dumb? Wait until it’s safe. With all of these restrictions they are telling you it’s not safe and it wont be disney.

    1. Avatar

Gatherings over 10 people is not a LAW. It is part of the requirements for phased reopenings, but not a law.

    Cast is going like this:
    Security
    Maintenance
    Ent to rehearse
Managers amd essential cm meaning cm w seniority wdw can trust
Then others they will retrain and have a 30 day probation!
This was told to managers to tell cms before they got furloughed so they know how its going to go!

Guests to me should go amd this is my opinion so dont shoot:
Health care workers teachers etc all that could use a needed break and some love.
Then Fl residents and APs we are usually the dummy they play w
First group in for resorts DVC the other test dummies and everything else once social distance is a fevered dream!

    1. Avatar

    1. Avatar

      Mark

No its not there is even an article on this site that ceo even said he has no date for reopening! I am on the universal forums daily they actually are a breathe of fresh air and like chatting w disney fans many are both they seem to be alot less vicious then disney fans! Oh btw they are even giving into the fact the park might not be open in time for hhn and it might as well just be moved to next yr! So thats a great rumor honey just like this is bc lately i been hearing next yr from people i know at disney! I pray its sooner but like i said above cms have to come back in stages the parks need to get clean and guess what their is more to either place be it wdw or uni then their parks! Neither park was built in a day but with any luck hopefully it will be open soon! Cast on both ends being told TBD also doesnt help arguement! But all we could do is have hope for soon then later but June is pushing it!

I would absolutely love to go. I want to see Disney World be a leader in opening America again Disney has always done well with cleanliness and safety unawareness in the Parks and all throughout the property. We definitely enjoyed going and would attend a soft opening. It is time the open things up and start moving forward to the new normal.
Not living in fear but living wisely and making good choices is the best way for us all to be able to begin experiencing the wonderful things in life like the magic of Disney World .
I will add that face mask outside in the heat in Florida temperatures would be something to consider not requiring you already have required social distancing for the guests. But I’m sure everyone will follow whatever guideline Disney sets in order to have the opportunity begin experiencing the magic again!

Your all out of your minds!!!! Do you have common sense!!! The person wrote this needs to have put OP on the side of this bc its “your opinion” not a single person said disney is opening nor is universal! Do you even know how a theme park is run!? Do you know why disney is fighting unemployment for their employees bc they arent opening anytime soon! I have friends whom are cms that were told they might not even bring in all cms at first and they have to clean up and make it safe thats alot of work!
As i keep saying to folks lets have some patience and enjoy life as best we can! Spreading crazy rumors isnt mentally helpful we all just start screaming at each other!

You betcha! We were at Epcot the day before they closed…were just sensible about hand washing and social distancing. The park was very clean. No problem!

Yes I definitely would! My husband, myself and two teenage daughters just had to cancel last September from the hurricane and booked a trip for this past spring break week in April, then had to reschedule that as well. Haven’t had a vacation in two and half years because we’ve been saving up for this Disney trip. We’re so beyond ready?. I’m also a healthcare worker.

Remember it was all started with a mouse so let’s help Mickey and restart it again.

Yes! We will be thrilled to travel, support and go to the parks whenever they open (and in whatever capacity)!

Why go to park when over 60 yrs old cast members are recommended to stay home? Although I appreciate the concern for them, it saddens me to acknowledge that seniors & grandparents, who previously loved the park with their families/friends, will be missing out on the “Happiest Place on Earth” for some time to come.

When do you think the Disney Parks should reopen?

As soon as possible since May 4th, FL was given the go ahead to move in that direction but NO domestic or int’l visitors yet. Florida residents ONLY.

And if they do reopen in a soft opening, would you volunteer to help Disney in their efforts of trying to go back to a major public opening?

Yes, if they gave me either a free ticket or 75% off. I currently have reservations at OKW that they have yet to cancel, which is my home resort. I had planned to just stay and stroll Disney Springs, as I usually do. I don’t need to do the parks every time I visit, which is 2 to 4 times a year. I had planned to wait until Fall to do Epcot where I have reservations at the Boardwalk. I’m hoping that DVC/Disney reaches out to it’s FLORIDA members w/ current reservations in order to give us first dibs.

But I’m wishful thinking. In your comments? Thank you in advance for your rudeness.

  97. Avatar

    Ashley G

If folks feel comfortable going, and the parks are open, go. For those that are really nervous or frightened or don’t feel safe, don’t go. But for those that would choose to NOT go, calm down, ease up, and quit complaining about people that don’t have a problem with attending a theme park – no matter how soon (or not) that might be.

I would differently go to the parks, I am ready to go and I would wear my face mask the whole time, that’s it. I will wash my hands and use sanitizer no big deal, I think we need to try to somewhat go back to a normal life, we just need to keep going but with safety first, that’s it.

  103. Avatar

    Hector Gautier

I’d definitely take part in a soft opening. I would most likely enjoy it more than a full park.

  104. Avatar

    Billbodoggins

Absolutely I would go. I have a Weekday Select pass so it’s blocked out June, July and half of August. I hope they lift the blackout restrictions during a soft opening so that I have a chance of going. I was planning on going for a few days in April and a week in May and both of those got shut down. If they don’t lift AP blackouts I may not get to go until the kids get some time off of school in October. I need my WDW fix.

  107. Avatar

Anyone can take an aspirin or Motrin before entering a park so they don’t have a fever. I will not go until next year and then I will wear a mask. Unless there’s a vaccine!

Any opening is going to be a soft opening at this point and I believe we are all ready to get back regardless of the limitations, I encourage everyone to look through your Disney photos we all distance naturally we keep our group to ourselves we are not touching or sharing with strangers most people are quite clean and respectful, some are not. If rules placed are followed and we strive to be more aware and keep our group clean and rounded up together and decent and respectful and grateful this new controlled chaos could work familiar is comfortable, change requires assistance it’s all about still enjoying the Happiness of Disney the freedom of joy without the threat of getting possibly very ill.

  124. Avatar

My husband and I would definitely do a soft opening if I could get time off at the hospital. I SO NEED DISNEY in my life right now!! And rescheduled March to May and now to June for only 3 days because that’s all I could manage since all vacations were canceled for the rest of the year. There goes my Boo to you this year!

  129. Avatar

    Barbara Lucy

My husband and I would LOVE to go if I could get time off from the hospital. We had plans for March that changed to May and then June. I could only finagle 3 days maybe since all vacations were canceled to the end of the year. There goes my favorite BOO TO YOU!

I would attend as isolated to pass members….we, as a group have a vested interest, as monthly contributors and want to serve as example and test for flaws, or to recogniz what is effectively working.

A manageable group is important where lots of feedback can be honestly obtained and as one that doesn’t want to get sick – I would be pleased to see how realistically it is to attempt opening to the mass general.

Feedback from those who do have a vested interest…pass holders…want to be safe and not face others who do not have the same respect levels for rules or the safety of others, would be useful.

My husband and I would be willing to be someone who could be part of a controlled group.

On the other side, I still feel waiting this out, until safer all, still seems the best way.
