DuckTales is finally returning to Disney XD for its long-anticipated third season, and with the announcement comes confirmed character appearances from the classic Disney Channel shows: TaleSpin, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, and Darkwing Duck!
According to Disney, the new season will feature “the Duck family embarking on a globetrotting hunt for the world’s greatest lost artifacts, with a secret organization from Scrooge’s past, the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny (F.O.W.L.), trying to stop them at any cost.”

DuckTales Season 3 Premieres April 4, 2020
Get ready Disniacs for an epic Saturday morning of cartoons! Disney will premiere DuckTales with two back-to-back episodes at 9:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 4th. After the premiere on Disney XD, the episodes will be immediately available on the DisneyNOW app. No word yet when we can expect the new episodes to appear on Disney+, but hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.
Disney Channel tweeted the announcement (above) and the eye is immediately drawn to the costume changes. Mrs. Beakley is rocking her look from the original DuckTales series for the first time. Donald Duck is back to wearing his classic blue sailor uniform. Della Duck has swapped the flack jacket for a more professional “mom” outfit. Even the triplets Huey Dewey and Louie all seem to get outfit updates.
But the announcement from Disney TVA seems to reset the status quo of the first two seasons. We’ll find out soon enough.

Daisy Duck and Disney Channel Classics will Make an Appearance
Probably the most exciting part about Season 3 of DuckTales is that it will be used to introduce Daisy Duck into the family as well as more characters from classic Disney Channel shows! The show already re-introduced us to Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck as well as the air pirate Don Carnage from TaleSpin. But we’re going to get even more appearances. Including Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, and Goof Troop.
Disney has teased a DuckTales/TaleSpin crossover episode mentioning the location of TaleSpin Cape Suzette since the reboot series premiered. But now it looks like Disney is using DuckTales to launch a whole new universe of Disney shows. We can only hope the appearances are more than cute cameos for nostalgia’s sake.
Season 3 of DuckTales will feature the following guest voices:
- Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad)
- Selma Blair (Hellboy)
- Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones)
- Bebe Neuwirth (Cheers)
- Retta (Parks and Recreation)
- Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
- Jaleel White (Family Matters)
- Doug Jones (Hellboy)
- Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption)
- James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
- Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey)
- Abby Ryder-Fortson (Ant-Man and the Wasp)
- Tress MacNeille (Mickey Mouse Mixed-Up Adventures)
- Bill Farmer (Goofy)
- James Monroe Iglehart (Broadway’s Hamilton)
- Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Oh, and of course the great David Tennant will return to voice the Duck Family’s billionaire patriarch, Scrooge McDuck!
