A 43 year old man, who was currently onboard a Disney Cruise Ship anchored in Port Canaveral, was saved by the Coast Guard on Wednesday.
The Coast Guard officials stated that the “43 year old man on the Disney Fantasy had a heart attacked Wednesday morning”.
The man, who was being held on the Disney Cruise Ship due to the spread of the coronavirus, needed immediate medical attention so a Coast Guard vessel took the man off of the ship and brought him into Port Canaveral. From there, an ambulance met them and took the man straight to the hospital.
Currently, there are no reports of any guests with the coronavirus aboard any of the cruise ships docked off of the Port Canaveral coast. The Cruise Lines are doing everything they possibly can in order to keep the spread minimal and off of the ships, crews, and guests onboard.
According to WESH, the cruise ships typically have approximately 1,000 crew members on board, who also often live on the ship. Some of these crew members, since they are not official U.S. citizens, cannot go onshore or leave the ship.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, cruise ships have been returning to the Port Canaveral port in Florida to restock on supplies on a rotating basis. The port ensures there will only be up to nine cruise ships using the port at a time while the cruise business has suspended its sailings.
