After initially stating that the Disney Vacation Club property on South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island resort would remain open for the time being, Disney has just issued a statement that their Hilton Head property will, in fact, be closing temporarily.
The official statement reads, “Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort will close at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20 through the end of the month. This will give Members and Guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements or book alternative accommodations.”
Disney has already issued closure announcements for all Disney Parks resorts worldwide and all DVC properties except for Aulani. Disney Vacation Club members can make changes to reservations online or by contacting 1 (800) 800-9800.
At this time, Aulani remains open for business, with heightened security protocols in place. The Walt Disney Travel Company and Disney theme parks have implemented temporary change policies to help guests reschedule their vacations for later in 2020.
Disney World Resort issued a statement that said “You can call (407) 939-5277 to reschedule reservations with arrivals of March 20-31 to a future date. To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving all Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for your reservation, as well as those with rescheduled reservations through June 30, 2020.”
In regard to refunds for Disney vacations, Disney’s statement said, “We will issue a refund to the original form of payment if a payment has been made. If you did not book through Disney directly, please contact your travel professional.”
With the CDC asserting that people should avoid gatherings of 50+ for the next 8 weeks at a minimum, Disney’s policies may continue to change. The team at Inside the Magic is carefully monitoring all news regarding Disney closures and possible re-opening dates.
