Back in February 2019, we reported that an elderly man, 67, had allegedly pointed a gun at another elderly couple, 60 and 62, in a fight over a handicapped parking spot at the Walt Disney World Resort.
A 62 year old woman and her husband, 60, are both Disney Annual Passholders and were visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort on February 10, 2019, when they ran into an altercation with another elderly guest. The couple had accused the other tourist, driving an SUV, of pointing a gun at them during the road rage incident.
Now in a new report by Orlando Sentinel, it looks as though the state attorney’s office won’t file criminal charges.
The state attorney’s office had decided last month that the case could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, therefore, they have decided not to pursue an aggravated assault with a firearm charge.
No one has been charged in this Disney’s Animal Kingdom road rage incident.
The Original Road Rage Incident
The road rage incident had occurred at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World on February 10, 2019 when the couple, both in their early 60s, were waiting for a car to back out of the parking spot so that they could take it. The spot was near the front of the theme park, so they wouldn’t have to walk far if they had gotten the disability parking spot.
But that is when a gray SUV had appeared out of no where, sped up and had almost crashed into the elderly couple’s vehicle in order to “steal the spot”, the couple told authorities.
According to the 911 call which was released by the state attorney’s office, the 60 year old man told the 911 dispatcher “You can imagine, it’s just a little upsetting. A guy pulled a firearm. At Disney.”
The initial report also states that the 60 year old man had raised his right fist at the SUV driver as he was visibly upset about the incident, which is when the SUV driver, a 67 year old man from Greensboro, North Carolina, responded back by showing a semi-automatic handgun and then pointing it at them. The Orlando Sentinel had reported that the passenger in the SUV claims this never happened and “it was just a wallet in his hand”, not a gun.
Records show that the police officer said that it could have been hard for the elderly couple to see exactly what was in the SUV driver’s hand from their position in their car.
Again, no one is currently being charged in this Disney’s Animal Kingdom road rage incident.
