More progress continues to be made at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Last night, Walt Disney Imagineers had the honor of raising the sign for Mickey’s Runaway Railway onto the front of the Grauman Chinese Theater.

The ride’s signage sits perfectly in the center of the theater’s front-facing wall, just above the doors. It was the first ride sign to be raised on the replica of the iconic Grauman Chinese Theater since the beloved Great Movie Ride closed.
It appears to be a neon sign in a style that harkens back to the classic cartoons when the title sequence was simply Mickey and Minnie posed around the marquee.
Here’s a picture of “Steamboat Willie”s title shot for reference:

As you can see we have Mickey on one side and Minnie on the other. The character’s name in big bold letters on top with the title of the short down below. By creating a sign in this style, Disney Imagineers immediately give the impression to guests that a new Mickey Mouse cartoon short is about to begin and we who want to get on the ride are going to step right into the middle of it.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ride-through attraction for both Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the history of Disney Parks. It is scheduled to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World on March 4, 2020, and then at the Disneyland Resort in California sometime in 2022.
