John Boyega has sent the internet into a frenzy after he delivered an absolutely legendary slap-back to all of the internet hate he received over the years playing Finn in the sequel Star Wars trilogy.

On the night of January 10, 2020, Boyega uploaded a video to his Instagram, which was a montage of him physically shutting down hateful tweets. From simply swerving around them to cutting one in half with a lightsaber, he doesn’t say anything and appears completely unscathed from the words being literally thrown at him.

Glad I got that out of my system ?

If Star Wars fans can be counted on for anything, like most fandoms, it’s being very vocal about their opinions across the Twittersphere. They are a ruthless fan base, the same fan base that bullied Star Wars star, Kelly Marie completely off social media and into therapy. But Boyega had other plans to deal with the hate.

A New Standard to Cyber Bullying Response

John Boyega has received hate for uncountable reasons since he first appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The most recent hate comes from the #Reylo fans after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker; the ones who were happy to see Rey end up with Kylo rather than Finn, who appeared to be enamored with Rey since the beginning of the trilogy.

Boyega remained his same fun-loving self across his social media, paying very little mind to the hate being tweeted. But no matter how thick-skinned you are, words can slowly eat away at you, and you need a chance to push them away. So he did just that in one of the most epic montages the internet has ever seen.

And at the end of the video, he simply says, “Glad I got that out of my system.” His video set new standards for ignoring the haters and shutting down harassment across the web. And people are starting to notice: (Warning! Tweets shared contain offensive language.)
