Happy Lunar New Year, the Year of the Mouse! Could there be a better year to celebrate this joyous season than 2020, the year of the Mouse and the year of Mickey and Minnie? We’re so happy that Disney Parks have brought back Lunar New Year to Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. 2020 is truly the year to be here, and the festival kicked off with a bang yesterday.
We had the opportunity to taste so many delicious foods on the first day of the festival on Friday, January 17 — and by far one of our favorite items was of course the purple yam Mickey macaron, available at the Red Dragon Spice Traders outdoor kitchen.
Whenever Disney comes out with new Mickey-shaped food, we have to try it And the Mickey macarons are always some of our favorite desserts available at the Disneyland Resort. So when we found out that there would be a purple yam Mickey macaron available at this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations at DCA, we knew it had to be on the top of our must-try list.
The purple yam Mickey macaron is a Mickey-shaped macaron cookie with a purple yam crème fraiche filling. The cookie itself is a stunning red color with a shimmering gold stripe — an homage to the red and gold colors of the Lunar New Year. And we’re happy to report that it definitely tastes as wonderful as it looks!
The Mickey-shaped purple sweet potato Mont Blanc macaron can be found at Disney California Adventure Park as Disneyland Resort celebrates the Year of the Mouse this Lunar New Year, Jan. 17 through Feb. 9, 2020. During the 24 days of this multicultural celebration, guests will enjoy exciting live entertainment and musical performances, plus inspired food and beverage items across festival marketplaces. And of course, we recommend you visit for yourself so you can see what all the fun is about!
We absolutely love the purple yam Mickey macaron available at Disney’s Lunar New Year. So many goodies are available, and each one of them is worth trying when you visit! But here are a few honorable mentions if you’re looking for all of the Mickey-shaped treats that are totally photo-worthy and perfect for those Disney Instagram posts.
