Just so you know it was Disney K9 that detected the individual and he claimed to be off duty law enforcement which he had a fake badge. He was carrying only 7 rounds of ammunition. I know this cause I read the report from a Disney K9 officer.

I carry my pistol concealed (I have a Florida concealed weapons permit) every time I go to Disney Springs and I know of many others that do as well. I don’t want to be a soft target if some but goes crazy there. It’s just an outdoor shopping mall, perfectly legal to carry there.

      1. Jeremiah McKenna

I too would not want to be around if “some but goes crazy.” You never know what might come out of it…

      2. Mark

I believe in concealed carry. If he’s carry a fake badge this guy is dangerous.

      3. Sally Eveland

Disney is private property. You are not allowed to carry, even legally with a concealed carry permit.

        1. Dan

You are allowed to carry. By Florida laws, there are no restrictions on carry in theme parks but if they ask you to leave you have to leave. It is perfectly legal to carry a gun in Disney springs. The “no weapons” they do not have posted anywhere is not legally recognized under Florida law

cannot believe he was released on a $1,000 bail – obviously this is a dangerous individual and should not have been released – with all these shootings how does this happen – we seem to care more about the criminals then the innocents – our laws need some real adjusting

    1. Faithful Friend

I agree! The US gun laws definitely need serious re-adjusting.

      1. Janet

Yes I agree as well , so why are they not checking bags and he should not have been let out on $1,000 bond

        1. Michael

Checking bags? At a shopping mall? This is not a police state we live in and guess what. He was only arrested because he did not have a concealed carry license.

      2. Tina Hudson

Gun laws adjusted? Criminals dont care about gun laws.

      3. Juan T

Well he was denied the legal purchase and possession of a gun 6 months ago.

It sure how gun laws could have prevented him acquiring his illegally but I agree a cheap bond for conceal carrying an illegally acquired gun and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

I was surprised by how many more security checks we have in Anaheim than we went through in Orlando this past week. There is a security check to get into Downtown Disney and we always go through metal detectors. Why the discrepancy when WDW has higher attendance? There is a higher chance that their could be a problem and if time/staff is their reason, that’s nonsense with the financial resources Disney has.

      5. Why armed man in Disneyland?

    2. Bill

Last I’ve been carrying for 25 years and have NEVER pulled my gun out BUT don’t try pulling one on me either !! Only thing that stops a BAD guy with a gun, is a GOOD guy with a gun !! Candied apples don’t help much !!

  3. Venus

As bad as it it was him carrying a concealed gun he was doing it with some purpose in mind when he had extra rounds with him

    1. Oscar

Most every other ccw permit holder I know, myself included carries extra magazines. The purpose is to have more bullets than the bad guys…hell, LEOs carry at least two additional magazines with them. FFS.

I think though its a mall its also part of wdw and they need bag check or at most detectors! Some might disagree but this isnt just your average shopping complex its still disney property proper where they can do more to protect it! I honestly thought thats why we got new parking lots eventually all that could be setup in a central location…. and yet here we are!

    1. Jeremiah McKenna

Then open your own mall complex and see how long you stay in business with everyone going through a metal detector. About one week.

      1. Mark

I agree w harley this isnt a mall mall this is wdw!!!! They can do whatever they want! And i agree it needs security like the rest of the property! I live in Hershey and even chocolate world has security on the off season when the park isnt open and equate that to springs. Btw if malls had security checks i wouldn’t mind it means i am safer there!

Shopping mall or dining venue. Disney does not allow firearms to be brought on property. So they were just doing their job. Kudos to Disney for enforcing their rules!

    1. Rob

Disney rules do not trump state or federal laws so if you have a concealed weapons permit signs do not mean you can’t they just mean if you are asked to leave by the management you must leave but you have broken no law

  6. Stacy

Good this idiot walked by the K-9 Officer/Dog. Inside secret, the moment you step foot on ANY Disney property forget about your rights. Disney is basically private property. Leave your Guns, Knives, pepper spray and any other weapons in your car. Yes, that goes for you too “CWP” carriers. This goes for all theme parks, and Dishes Spring. Having a gun on any of their resort you have declare it to a resort staff. And they don’t care if your the FBI. You’re on private property.

  7. Armando Matos

By florida law You cant carry in places were they store ,use or transport explosives materials and disney use this law flaw cause the fireworks count as explosives.

  8. Daniel

You can carry in Disney as long as you are a CWP holder. Their rules do not over rule Florida’s state laws when it comes to conceal carry regardless if they have a “no weapons sign”. Those signs have no meaning here in Florida as it is not recognized as a law unlike in hospitals or stadium’s. But if they ask you to leave you have to leave other wise it is trespassing.

I just got stopped today. They now have a security check point coming in from the parking areas. I have carried many times before here but seems like they have cracked down on it recently.
