At the 2019 D23 Expo last month, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Bob Chapek revealed new details on Epcot’s new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster. And now, we have even more exciting news!
Disney just released an exclusive look at the new ride vehicles! This coaster will be groundbreaking as the ride system will feature vehicles that rotate 360 degrees and can even do a reverse launch.
Check out the out-of-this-world ride vehicles in Disney’s YouTube video below.
In the video you can see that each individual cabin in the attraction will rotate and direct the rider’s eyes to the story happening right in front of you. This coaster isn’t like any ordinary coaster. You won’t be zooming or whizzing by the action — instead, the system will fully immerse the rider so you won’t miss anything from the story.
The brand new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will begin in the “Galaxarium,” which is a planetarium-like exhibit which will explore similar aspects of Earth’s galaxy and Xandar. Guests will join Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and of course, Groot as they go on an out-of-this-world adventure.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary along with some other exciting attractions, like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure also opening in Epcot. Similar to Ratatouille: The Adventure in Disneyland Paris, this attraction will also be a 4D experience where guests shrink down to the size of a rat so that they can explore and see the world from Remy’s eyes.
