In a press conference at the Orange County Convention Center this morning August 1, 2019, Chairman and CEO of Comcast corporation Bryan Roberts announced the addition of Universal’s Epic Universe to the Universal Orlando Resort.
Yes– you read that right, Universal Orlando is officially expanding to a fourth theme park. The park will be located within a larger 750-acre site that nearly doubles Universal’s total available acreage in Central Florida and will sit a few miles from the existing resort in Southwest Orange County. Specifically, it will be south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard.

At the opening of this park, it will make Florida Comcast’s largest state for employment. As part of this new opening, the company plans to employ fourteen-thousand more employees.
During the conference, the company did not release any details as it pertains to the new theme park’s opening date or any themes to be included in attractions. Although, the company did state that as part of the new park, there will be the addition of new shops, hotels, and restaurants.
As per a release by Universal, the company says “Universal’s Epic Universe will take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands–and where that journey is as much a part of their adventure as the ultimate destination.”

When asked about what themes will be included in the new park, Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO Universal Parks & Resorts, spoke over revealing any specific themes. However, he did state: “A universe is bigger than a world.”
When asked how many themed lands park-goers can expect in the new theme park, Williams said he could not disclose the specific amount. But, he did state it “will be an incredible amount that will surprise you.”

As far as transportation to the new park, it was revealed that the Kirkman expansion will improve transportation through a busy and growing portion of Orange county and open up the entire area for additional development. During the conference, it was stated that the new park will be located about 12 minutes from the rest of the resort.
