Of course it is! Well, if ‘Make Mine Music’ and ‘Saludos Amigos’ aren’t the next ones to be made live then I will be highly surprised!

The source is We Got This Covered, they’re pretty notorious for not actually having anything covered. So, I’ll treat this with a pinch of salt.

That being said, remaking some of the more obscure ones is a pretty good idea, there’s less of the ‘fandom’ backlash as so many probably haven’t heard of it. I’d be pretty interested in this one, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, the South American duology, The Black Cauldron and the Rescuers (and the Rescuers Down Under) too.

You have got to be kidding me! Enough is enough! These live-action remakes are becoming the straight to VHS/DVD sequels from the 2000s.

This isn’t going to work. Great Mouse Detective isn’t considered as one of the best in Disney’s catalogue. I don’t see it doing well as live-action, whether it makes it to theaters or online. Who is this supposed to appeal to? I doubt today’s generation would care about this universe.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love The Great Mouse Detective. I think the film is an underrated gem, and Vincent Price gave a fantastic performance as Ratigan. The only way the Great Mouse Detective can be re-introduced for a new generation is for Disney+ to make an animated series that continues the adventures of Basil and Dawson. Now, that would be a show I would watch. I mean, instead of making a sub-par live-action and soon-to-be dated CGI film, why not continue right after the end of the original film with all of these new adventures? Heck, an episode where Basil and Dawson meet Sherlock Holmes and John Watson would be awesome.

No thank you, leave this one alone. It’s one of the few 80’s films that I like be, and it is just fine as it is, hand drawn animation was made with heart and soul. The live action movies are turning into to flops.

  9. Yeah, this ain’t true. I don’t know who fooled We Got This Covered into thinking it would be, but they have a history of hoaxes.

I think they are going too fast with the remakes. They have already released Mulan and Aladdin and The Lion King all this year and they are going to be releasing Lady and the Tramp this November.

  11. I’m all for live actions if they’re done well. At this point, it’s best to treat them as separate additions than remakes ’cause the originals will always be superior. So far only “The Lion King” and “Aladdin” have truly impressed me. I’m excited about “The Great Mouse Detective”. Hope Disney will cast Billy Eichner as Basil, and Seth Rogen should be there too, since both stole the scenes as the new Timon and Pumbaa they’ve been getting lots of praises on social media.
