Disney Parks panel attendees at the 2019 D23 Expo first learned that Genie will soon here to help you with your vacation planning, and you won’t be limited to just three wishes. Disney’s Genie is the latest artificial intelligence system to help guests build their own Walt Disney World vacation as magical as possible.
Unveiled by Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Bob Chapek, Genie is here to help seamlessly plan each Disney day whether you are a first-time guest or seasoned pro. You will be given suggested itineraries based on your interests. Do you want to be a Disney Princess in the Magic Kingdom, unleash your inner foodie across the World Showcase at EPCOT, or are you looking to get lost in an adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Just tell Genie what you want to do, and he will get to work searching through millions of options to optimize your perfect Disney day.
Disney Parks Blog described the Genie app as the following:
Joining other innovations like the MagicBand, Disney Genie is being designed to help you make the most out of your visit, whether you’re a first-time guest or a seasoned pro.
Disney Genie will make planning easier and more fun by providing customized itineraries geared to your interests, right at your fingertips – from a royal, princess-themed day at Magic Kingdom Park to a trip around the world at Epcot for foodies and even a perfect day for thrill seekers. Certain features of Disney Genie will also be available through your preferred travel professional.
Sometimes you may know exactly what you want to do, but may not know the best time or order in which to do it. You’ll be able to tell Disney Genie what you’d like to experience, and it will quickly evaluate millions of options to present you with an optimal day. And best of all, it’s flexible! If you change your mind for any reason, Disney Genie will re-optimize your day.
Disney Genie can also send you real-time tips and updates, including recommendations for experiences it thinks you’ll love, helping you navigate the theme parks with added convenience and comfort. If you don’t want to worry about making reservations in multiple steps, Disney Genie will even take care of that for you.
Imagine walking around the park and getting a message from Genie reminding you a parade’s about to start or that the wait time for your favorite ride or attractions just dropped significantly, or your favorite Disney Characters just popped up nearby for a Meet n’ Greet, or it just became possible to book a dining reservation at your favorite restaurant.
To the avid Disniac, this Genie is the next logical step in Disney’s development in matters of itineraries and immersion. We rock MagicBands, we pass time in line with the Play Disney Parks App, and we use the My Disney Experience app as our hub for everything from FastPass+ and mobile food orders to online check-in at our hotels, and virtual queues. But even beyond that, who wouldn’t want their own personal Genie for a day, let alone Aladdin’s Genie of the Lamp?
This amazing vacation planning tool was originally expected to be released to Disney guests in late 2020. (Which means we would have plenty of time to get acquainted with it before the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration). But, with very little news from Disney on this matter, one has to wonder if that deadline will still be met.
If you’re looking to plan the ultimate Disney trip, our friends at Academy Travel are standing by to help make your dreams a reality.
