For the first time ever two different kinds of magic will come together to create a theatrical masterpiece! Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Animation and Cirque du Soleil will come together to create a whole new show for Disney Springs.
This show will combine Disney’s heart and storytelling with Cirque’s unique artistry and theatrical sensibility.
“This is destiny,” exclaimed innovative Cirque du Soleil director Michel Laprise. “You know the line of Jiminy Cricket, ‘When you wish upon a star?’… I made one wish: that one day we would create a show at Cirque du Soleil about the art of Disney Animation.” And sure enough, his wish was granted.

Laprise was accompanied by legendary Disney Animator, Eric Goldberg (probably most famous for his creation of Robin Willimas’ Genie in “Aladdin”). Goldberg explained that Disney Animators have been hard at work to create NEW animation sequences for this show. This show will blur the lines between the real world and the animated one, as these animated characters will appear to interact with the live performers.
Together, this collaborative team completely immersed themselves into the heart of Disney art and culture, visiting Disney Parks, the Walt Disney Family Museum, and diving into the archives.
“It’s an absolutely wonderful extraordinary experience,” Goldberg said describing this adventure.
What makes this collaboration even more special is that for the first time ever Cirque Du Soleil’s composer created brand new sequences to integrate Disney themes.
The show’s story will follow a young girl whose father was a Disney animator and she is sent on a magical journey of self-discovery in the world of animation. This project is very special for Goldberg because he raised his two daughters with a love of Disney Art.
Previews are expected to begin March 20, 2020, with the World Premiere being held on April 17th. This will mark the return of Cirque du Soleil after the closing of “La Nouba” back in 2017.
