From an exclusive World of Color show to treat trails more immersive than Disney guests have ever seen, Disney California Adventure is offering so much more than candy and parades at this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash, Disneyland Resort’s all-new Halloween party. We recently had the opportunity to learn more about what the party has in store for guests of all ages, including some amazing new entertainment and activities. Here are all the details we know so far.

We can’t share information about Oogie Boogie Bash without talking about Villainous!, the all-new version of World of Color exclusive to this Halloween party. After seeing a sneak peek for ourselves, we have to say that it’s more epic than we could have ever expected. From hand-drawn animated effects of classic Disney Villains to an adorable new character Shelley Marie who we know everyone will fall in love with, this show has so much to offer audiences of all ages, and it will truly delight anyone who attends the party. The nighttime spectacular is the first World of Color show in nine years with a linear storyline, and this truly adds to the family-friendly and immersive experience of Disney California Adventure during Oogie Boogie Bash. We won’t spoil it for you, but just know that the show sends the heartwarming message to kids that it truly is okay to be different.

New character encounters

Disney shared that guests will get to see characters they’ve never met before at Oogie Boogie Bash! Mickey’s Frightfully Fun Parade, a guest favorite from Mickey’s Halloween Party, will be back and running at DCA this year, only this time the Cheshire Cat will be taking Vampirina’s place for the first time ever at the back of the Disney Villains float. How amazing is that? Disney also teased that Oogie Boogie Bash attendees will have the chance to encounter even more characters who they’ve never seen before, rare characters who we hardly ever get to meet, and even fan favorites dressed in all new costumes.

Two new shows for Oogie Boogie Bash are the DescenDANCE party and Mickey’s Trick and Treat show, both of which have enough fun for everyone in your family. In creating Oogie Boogie Bash, Disney wanted to bring experiences that would appeal to kids of all ages and the whole family, and these two shows truly offer that. DescenDANCE is an immersive, participatory show in Hollywood Land, entertaining kids from toddlers to teenagers with a dance party that will get everyone involved. Over at the Disney Theater, Mickey’s Trick and Treat will delight families with your favorite classic characters decked out in new outfits sharing tricks and treats (and even some candy!) with the entire audience. Both of these experiences are new to the party and definitely provide more entertainment options for guests of different age groups to enjoy.

Immersive treat trails and first-ever Villains Grove

While we don’t have any images to share of the immersive new treat trails or Villains Grove, we still had to let you know just how epic and unique these would be. Disney announced that every corner of Disney California Adventure would be decked out for Halloween this year at Oogie Boogie Bash, and a lot of the park will be transformed into 10 different treat trails, five of which will be taken over and themed after your favorite Disney Villains. Guests will encounter immersive experiences at these treat trails that are now ruled by villains who you’ll get to see and interact with at the party, including Maleficent, The Queen, Dr. Facilier, Mad Hatter, and of course the host himself, Oogie Boogie.

Additionally, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will be transformed into Villains Grove, a “hauntingly beautiful display of light and sound” that the Disney Villains have transformed into their own. Each area of Villains Grove is themed to a villain and transformed into a delightfully frightful atmosphere, with parts of the forest taken over by Frollo (“The Hunchback of Notre Dame”), Maleficent (“Sleeping Beauty”), The Queen of Hearts (“Alice in Wonderland”), Scar (“The Lion King”), Dr. Facilier (“The Princess and the Frog”), and The Queen (“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”). The whisps (who you’ll remember from “Brave”) of the forest will guide you out of the darkest point and back into the safety of dawn. From what we can tell, this will be a truly magical experience like none we’ve ever seen at a Disney Park, and we’re so excited to see it in person.
