I think it’s because most locals (except Signature & Signature Plus) with annual passes are blocked out for the summer, or require a reservation.
I think you are right, but also I do not think there are as many die-hard Star Wars fans as Disney was banking on. I don’t view Star Wars as being Disney, as Disney acquired it, but did not create it. Disneyland’s best attractions were created by Disney.
I would attribute the smaller crowds to a all of the above. Also add in that not a lot of people are going there because of the high ticket costs, not only of the park entry and food and toys, but more over, the higher cost of the surrounding area and the nightly rates.
What they need to compare are the overall park ticket sales from ten years ago, and see if there really is a trend one way or another, of if sales are the same.
The real test is the crowds at Disney World.
Actually dhs capacity projection has it still standing as normal coming out of dhs from a friend whose managment! So if more show up it will be a shock bc i heard from alot of people it will be all hands like every cm is in at 5/6am even if they dont wrk galaxy edge but they are really going off dl took many people and only projecting local fans! Which i do not get bc lots of aps do not get emails etc to come in earlier… i do not think they understand annuals are annuals for a reason we are your main support and money makers!
Since admission is down, Disney, how about unblocking your annual pass holders for the rest of the summer? You will make more money in parking and food than you are making now.
Ok let me tell you something. I´ve visited Disneyland every 4th of July for the past 3 years. This year was not the esception, and this holiday is always empty at the parks. Is one of my fav times to go because you can ride all the attractions. It makes sense since everyone over here goes to the beaches or to bbq with families and the same with visitors.
