Pixar just announced an all-new film “Soul” will hit theaters next summer, and we already want to know more.
The hit animation studios behind “Toy Story 4” and so many fan-favorite films revealed the announcement of an all-new project on social media on Tuesday, and fans everywhere already can’t get enough. In the announcement, which Disney and Pixar shared across virtually all of their social media accounts, Pixar states, “One year from today, Pixar Animation Studios will take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions. Disney & Pixar’s “Soul” arrives in theaters on June 19, 2020.”
Take a look at Pixar’s Instagram post of the “Soul” logo below:
According to Deadline, the tagline for “Soul” reads, “Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU?” The summer 2020 film will be directed by Oscar-winner Pete Docter (known for his work on Pixar’s other hit movies “Up” and “Inside Out”), and it will be produced by Oscar nominee Dana Murray (known for the “Lou” short film).
“Soul” will hit theaters next summer following the release of Disney-Pixar’s new film “Onward,” which tells the story of two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. With “Onward” hitting theaters on March 6, 2020 and “Soul” set to follow just over three months later, it’s safe to say that 2020 will be a big year for Pixar.
Disney has some pretty amazing upcoming films slated for 2019, and we’ve been so overwhelmed by what’s to come that we can hardly keep track of what fans are most excited for. The fact that we’re getting two all-new Pixar films within the first half of 2020 is huge news for Pixar fans everywhere, and we’re eager to learn more about what else the creative minds at Pixar have up their sleeves.
