“Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley, who portrayed the fierce survivor and Jakku scavenger in the current “Star Wars” trilogy that’s set to end with “The Rise of Skywalker,” has confirmed to fans that she will not be appearing in the next trilogy. Her statement comes following reports last week that she might have a role in the upcoming trilogy.
Nevertheless, in a recent interview with Buzzfeed’s AM to DM, Ridley was asked outright if Rey would be making an appearance in the next “Star Wars” trilogy, to which she responded “I can say I’m not in the next trilogy. Because Rian [Johnson] always said… if it’s the Rian one, or it’s the guys that did Game of Thrones. I’m not sure. Whichever one it was, they always said it was going to be a separate story. So I’m not, no.”

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed earlier this year that “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. will be behind the upcoming trilogy. In the announcement, Iger stated: “We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie that we release will be theirs.” Iger continued: “And we’re not saying anything more about that.”
In a report by Star Wars News Net, it was said that Benioff & Weiss’ trilogy would be set during the days of the Old Republic, “hundreds of years prior to the Skywalkers.” In the same report, their source described the new trilogy as “Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings.” The report also shared that filming will begin this fall. Of course, at this time, these are all unofficial rumors not confirmed by Disney.

However, what has been confirmed by Disney regarding the new trilogy is its release dates, which are set to take place in 2022, 2024, and 2026. Their releases are scheduled to take place in-between years set for the release of the upcoming “Avatar” sequels.
You can catch Daisy Ridley as Rey one last time in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which is set to hit theaters later this year.
