I’m horribly frustrated by their decision to do this now! I’ve never been to Disneyland and finally have the opportunity to go in early May…and now this! I know I will still enjoy myself, but so wanted to see the castle in all it’s glory!

NOT happy. We are taking our first trip to Disneyland at the beginning of June. I will be so incredibly disappointed if the castle looks like this during our visit!!!!

It needs to be done. There will never be a perfect time for it, they simply can’t please everyone. The great thing about Disneyland is there’s so much more to it than just the castle!

  4. It could be a lot worse. I finally scored the time and money years ago to get all the way across the country and go to Disney World and the castle in the Magic Kingdom was TOTALLY OBSCURED by this horrible inflatable birthday cake thing.

Anyway, yeah, it sucks if something’s down for refurb when you go but better that than the thing sustain unfixable structural damage and have to be like…totally rebuilt or something.

Why does the article say closed til June when everything Disney says closed through spring?

I can say I was disappointed reading this. This past week I booked my FIRST trip to Disneyland for early Feb – I live in Orlando & was told castle was awesome out there ?

I understand no Bibbity Bobbity Boo Boutique 🙁 When we went in 2018 there was no main parade, no Dumbo, no vintage cars, no big ferris wheel plus many other attractions undergoing refurb. We had the best time still. It may be back open in May as Spring starts in USA March

I have never been to Disneyland and I will be going in February and I was looking forward to seeing the castle because sleeping beauty is one of my favorite disney princess movies and I probably will not be back for a very long time. But hopefully not much will be under construction when we go. But it was very disappointing when I ready this because that’s one thing we were all looking forward to.

Oh my goodness!! I feel the same way! I just saw this. We just started planning our 1st trip to Disneyland the first part of May. I couldn’t wait to see it and now, this! Makes me so sad!

I thought I heard Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique was still open?

Soo disappointed, I am from Australia and have been saving for a year to get my daughter and I there for her 21st Birthday . We arrive in March 2019. If I had have known this I would have defiantly gone over to WDW..
This is the second time this has happened as I recently returned from Hong Kong and refurbishment to castle us also being done there too..

USA is extremely expensive for us to get to due to exchange rates , so once in a lifetime trip will be about looking at a grey wall ?

    Devastated ?

Hi, my name is Paul. What does that mean for the new nighttime show, Mickey’s Mix Magic at Disneyland, will there be fireworks and projections down Main Streets USA even there’s rumor that Sleeping Beauty castle is being renovated on Jan 17 until June?

  13. Cori

The last day of spring is in June. Summer starts the 21st.

  14. Cori

I read that the new nighttime show was only projections on Main Street, and with the fireworks on the nights fireworks are planned. Clearly they knew how to word that, since this was coming.

Darcy, after reviewing the article, it seems there was a mistake. The castle is supposed to be finished with its refurbishment by Spring 2019.

It has to get done some time to keep the quality of the park up. I try and research any possible clousures for our trips when I plan them. Some things I will reschedule the trip for and one thing would be for the castle closing. We moved our last trip up so we could eat at Ariels Grotto one last time before they closed it.

    Spring ends June 21.

  18. Michaela

Haha because June is “late spring” in Disney speak. I think this estimate is based on predicted Galaxy’s Edge openings.

  19. K

It said spring was the estimated completion so I’d expect June to be fine….

So sad…we are taking our granddaughter for her first trip. We have saved for this trip, 8 of us traveling from the UK.
It’s also our daughter 30th birthday.
    Sad..very sad.
Park tickets are soooo expensive , they should reduce the price when major work is going on.
    We fly over in February.

Well……someone is taking the MAGIC OUT OF DISNEY PARKS.I just returned from WDW, and I was soooo disappointed. It all started when I got to “Old Key West Resort.” (I’m a member). Cream colored walls throughout the once beautiful colorful, happy apartments, were REFIRBISHED , to look like depressing low income housing , or a blah looking New York Hotel rooms. In the bathrooms, beautiful, vibrant colorful walltiles were taken down to replace it with sheetrock walls and subway tiles in the tub area, grey tile on the floor, and replaced the shower head (to supposedly save water,) but you’re in there 3 times as long to rinse off. Very frustrating, (when you want to hurry to go to the park). The beautifully tiled backsplash in the kitchen was taken down to be replaced with a boring white slab of marble. Carpeting and furniture in the bedroom and living room, brown and depressing. I hated to stay there, (after loving it and looking forward to going back). I can’t believe they would strip the tropical magical look from the resort. IN THE PARKS, WE WALKED IN PITCH DARKNESS. TWINKLING LIGHTS IN THE TREES WERE GONE. (Our trip was Dec. 17th to the 28th). Lots of rides were closed . Stores were scaled down of merchandise. Disney now reminds me of a Six Flags amusement park, ITS NICE, but the MAGIC IS GONE. Beverage, popcorn and ice cream carts were far and few throughout the parks. Never got to see one Spectacular Parade, and the Fireworks display was just not what it use to be. They shouldn’t fix what was not broken. Disney needs the OLD IMAGINEER TEAM ASAP. THE MAGIC IS SOO GONE.????????
