Back in February, the World of Disney stores in both Disney Springs at Walt Disney World and Downtown Disney in Disneyland Resort began renovations that would provide guests with a “dynamic and distinctly Disney retail environment.”

The Disney Springs location closed in phases, allowing guests to continue shopping during the renovations. The first phase is now complete and guests are welcome to shop the newly renovated half of the retail establishment.

The new concept is much more open than the previous design featured at World of Disney, allowing guests to move about more freely and shop all of the great merchandise without being cramped in what is usually a very crowded store.

With the other half of the store under construction, several entrances are closed. Themed graphics have been placed in the windows directing guests to the open section of the store.

The other half of the store should be finished by the Fall, providing a complete and brand new World of Disney shopping experience.

I’m very disappointed in the newly renovated store. There is nothing charming, enticing the children and children within like there was in the original Downtown Disney. Before, you would look up and all around to see Disney characters floating above you, and backdrops from movies. Now it’s not unique at all – just another department store, except nothing is a “Bonus Buy” or special bargain like you get at other department stores. Skip this boring over-priced and uninspired marketing opportunity and head to Walmart. They have fun gear you can afford, and it’s more fun than this pathetic adult-targeted waste of time and parking struggles.
