New outdoor kitchens and cuisine have come to Walt Disney World for the 2018 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival has been an annual event at Walt Disney World since 1993. The festival is where guests can experience specially-themed floral displays, topiary sculptures of Disney characters, tours, exciting garden space experiences found all around the world showcase, and of course, some delicious food and festive drink offerings.

Here is an in-depth look at this year’s festival offerings with highlights of some favorable dishes.

For the 2018 festival, Epcot premiered the brand new Honey Bee-stro Hosted by National Honey Board outdoor kitchen. Inspired by bees and all things honey, this kiosk is where guests can taste food offerings that all include the natural food substance produced by nature’s small buzzing friends.

The outdoor kitchen’s offerings include:

Food

  • Roasted Cauliflower with Buckwheat Honey Carrot Puree, Wild Rice Pilaf, Asparagus, Honey Blistered Grapes and Sunflower Brittle (GF) (V)
  • Honey Tandoori Chicken Flatbread with White Cheddar Cheese, charred vegetables, Clover Honey Sour Cream and Micro Watercress
  • Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake with Orange Blossom Honey Ice Cream garnished with Fennel Pollen Meringue Kisses

The Roasted Cauliflower with Buckwheat Honey Carrot Puree (pictured above) is a delicious option from the kiosk. The cauliflower is cut into small pieces and seasoned nicely. And when combined with the honey carrot puree, wild rice pilaf, asparagus, honey blistered grapes and sunflower brittle, the dish comes together nicely as a smorgasbord of tasty ingredients. This is also one of the larger food portions from this outdoor kitchen.

The Honey Tandoori Chicken Flatbread with White Cheddar Cheese is another great option from this kitchen. The serving is a nice size and fits well in your hand as you walk around the festival. The chicken, combined with different seasonings, vegetables and topped with clover honey sour cream sauce make for a flavorful offering.

Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market is where guests can venture to Germany for Bavarian bites that will satisfy the taste buds of any foodie.

  • Potato Pancake with Caramelized Ham, Onions and Herb Sour Cream
  • Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyère Cheese
  • Warm Cheese Strudel with Mixed Berries

One special dish from this location is the Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyère Cheese. This dish defines cheesy goodness as the Gruyère Cheese overwhelms this option. And when paired with the delicious pretzel bread and black forrest ham, you can’t help but be satisfied with this offering.

  • Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with Brown Gravy and Local Sweet Corn Relish

The Carnie Guisada with Black Bean Cake and Cilantro Lime Sour Cream is a nice offering from this kiosk. The black bean cake is made with fresh and delicious ingredients and is finished with a subtly sour cilantro lime sour cream sauce that gives the dish a nice extra kick.

The Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with brown gravy and local sweet corn relish is also another great offering from the Fresh Florida kitchen. This dish contains the perfect amount of cheese and its brown gravy is full of delicious flavors, bringing the shrimp to life!

The Tropical Mousse Cake is a delightful offering from this kiosk. Created with layers of passion fruit cake, coconut mousse and a tropical fruit glaze with fresh pineapple, this dish will put you in a food coma. The fruit cake is nice and sweet and the addition of the fresh pineapple makes the dessert even sweeter. Definitely a must-have from the festival!

One of the sweetest options from the festival, the Griddled Maple Pound Cake is a warm delight that will take your taste buds to new heights. Made with peach compote and topped off with sweet corn gelato, this dish is the ultimate sweet. The gelato adds a nice finish to the already super sweet cake, making it the ultimate last course.

The Field Greens with fresh Strawberries is a nice option from this kiosk. All of the fruits included in the dish are juicy and fresh and made even sweeter with the help of crisp quinoa, strawberry vinaigrette and spiced pecans.

The Beef Brisket Burnt Ends and Smoked Pork Belly Slider is a wonderful option from this kiosk. One of my personal favorites of the festival, this slider is jam packed with delicious beef and sausage, great tasting chorizo, a house made pickle and topped with tasty cheddar fondue. Truly an explosion of flavor in your mouth. A top pick from the festival if I say so myself.
