Dietary Restrictive Food Offerings

If you are someone who suffers from a food allergy, you are probably used to having trouble ordering dishes at most restaurants, especially when the ingredients are not properly listed on the menu. Over the past few decades new allergy tests and research has been done and at this time in history, people have more diagnosed food allergies than ever before.

To those who have been diagnosed with some type of food allergy and are considering a cruise aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, fear not, because the chefs aboard these magical vessels got your back! When dining at any of Disney Cruise Line’s sit-down restaurants, all menus now feature common allergy free items. Currently, these menus include options for dairy-free, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

This doesn’t only include main courses, but also desserts as well! Below is a dairy free dessert offering from the Royal Palace aboard the Disney Dream.

Of course, the menu items that are made entirely of allergy-free ingredients is only so large, and to make up for this, most menu items are capable of being reworked into an allergy free option.

Once any guest sits down at one of Disney Cruise Line’s restaurants aboard any of their vessels, the first question they are asked is if they have a food allergy. Not only will the waiter alert the chef to prevent cross-contamination in the kitchen, they will also work with you to find an option that is right for you.

By properly filling out the preliminary dietary preferences that are available through the Disney Cruise Line online portal, guests have another way of preventing the consumption of foods that cause allergic reactions. Even though safeguards are in place to prevent guests from consuming foods they may have allergies to, it is still smart to be vigilant and ask your waiter or server if you are still unsure about a dish or food item.

Below is the Oven-Baked Salmon Royale from the Royal Palace aboard the Disney Dream. Normally this dish is prepared with a horseradish crust accompanied by sautéed Swiss chard, truffle-infused cauliflower puree and white wine beurre blanc. In the picture, you see a special dairy free version made without the Swiss chard, which was substituted for spinach.

This is just a peek at some of the many entertainment offerings available aboard the Disney Dream, in addition to a glimpse of the ship’s dietary procedures, which are created specifically to protect guests with different types of food allergies and sensitivities.
