Its time has come and gone once again. After first launching in 1972, performing in various forms at five different Disney theme parks around the world, and finally returning to its original home at Disneyland this past January, the Main Street Electrical Parade has bid farewell one more time.
Last night at Walt Disney’s original Magic Kingdom in Anaheim, California, park guests lined the parade route to witness the “spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparkling lights” for a final show down Main Street USA and beyond.
Where will the Main Street Electrical Parade wind up next? Might we see it return to Walt Disney World in Florida, where it thrilled guests for many years across three separate time spans? Will it pop up at Disneyland again sometime in the future? Or is this really the end for the most famous parade in Disney’s American parks?
Whatever the case may be, it was an honor to be present for both the first and last performance of the Main Street Electrical Parade during its triumphant return to Disneyland for seven months of 2017.
