Some of Disneyland’s most beloved classic attractions have been closed since the beginning of last year due to the construction of the much anticipated Star Wars Land. That’s about to change, though, as those classic attractions are set to return in the coming weeks–just in time for your summer vacation.
The classic Fantasmic! nighttime show had been running since 1992 before being temporarily shut down last year. Disney promises that the July 17 return of the show will bring “new magic to this beloved nighttime spectacular.” New projection technology, mist screens and brand new scenes based on animated classics such as “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” will add to this already magical experience.
Rivers of America is also set to reopen soon, starting with the Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island on June 16. The Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes will join soon after on July 29.
The return of this attraction will bring more eye-capturing, adventure-inspiring views than ever before with new additions to the landscape. This includes the new Columbia Gorge section, complete with its five breathtaking waterfalls, and the new north bank of the Rivers of America, portrayed above in an artist rendering courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Disneyland Railroad will finally return on July 29–although not exactly as it was before. For the first time ever, the classic railroad attraction will make a left hand turn!
The classic dioramas of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World have also been restored and have had “a bit of new magic” added to them.
