Comments for New Marvel dark ride to replace Buzz Lightyear Astro-Blasters at Hong Kong Disneyland, concept art features Ant-Man

I assume that Buzz is safe at WDW in Florida? With what they are doing with Stitch I wonder what WDW’s long term plans for that area are.

Given that WDW is getting an entire Toy Story -land- very soon (well, by themepark standards), I wouldn’t be at all surprised that this is the shadow of the end for it elsewhere in the park. It may hang on at Disneyland, but in related context, I’m not sure that their Star Tours will last for another ten years. Oh, I don’t think they’re going to just rip it out the instant the paint dries on the new land, but once people are used to the new areas, the old rides that are in the ‘wrong location’ can safely be phased out without people feeling like they’re losing the representation of the franchise.

I also have to say, the tech behind Astro Blasters, and even Star Tours, has become kind of outdated (Knotts’ Iron Reef is more interactive than AB!) and so there’s probably more than a few folks that want to keep Tomorrowland a little closer to tomorrow with more cutting-edge tech in their rides.
