Just southeast of Anaheim and Disneyland is Riverside County, home to one of the 100 Best Small Art Towns in America, Idyllwild-Pine Cove. Californians enshrined the location as the best Los Angeles Mountain Getaway, and nestled within this quiet town is the Hicksville Pine Chalet and Motel. From the outside, the four-building compound appears to be just another roadside motel. This motel, however, is anything but ordinary. Within the three chalets and the two-story motel is a collection of eclectic experiences that awaits the adventurous traveler in the form of ten diversely themed rooms. Each accommodation has its own very unique and definitive look.
For gamers looking for a weekend campaign retreat, there are the Nerds! Room – featuring two rooms. This sweet suite also has two televisions tethered each to a PS4 gaming system.
It would be divas, and rock stars might enjoy The Third Man suite, inspired by the Nashville record store Third Man Records & Novelties. Merchandise from the famous record retailer adorns the room, and Guests may want to bring their own vinyl as the room includes a record player.
Can’t wait to enjoy the winter holidays? Spend a night in the Christmas Town suite. This holiday room includes a pair of electric fireplaces, Netflix AND holiday movie-enabled television, and what’s billed as the best views on the property.
Mondo Trasho is a suite inspired by John Waters. “You’ll have a Divine time in our tribute to the king of trash… John Waters! Watch JW movies on our ceiling-mounted TV! Come out of the closet… Dressed like Divine with our wardrobe full of Divinely inspired outfits! Or lounge around in the astroturf bathroom. It feels good to be Queen for a day!”
The Dita was actually designed by Dita Von Teese and included a kitchenette, private deck with a grill. Bathe in sheer delight in the two-person claw foot tub situated next to the bathroom fireplace.
Our personal favorite is fit for any foolish mortal. The Haunted Mansion room includes a secret bookcase, doom buggy bed, claw foot tub, iconic mansion wallpaper, and a TV stocked with hot and cold running chills (ghost movies). Ezra Gus and Phinneas also appear to be on hand to ensure visitors rest peacefully.
Rounding out the room collection are The Great Northern (inspired by Twin Peaks), the Honeymoon Suite, the Dolly (a tribute to Dolly Parton), and Room 420 (with psychedelic blacklight posters and sunken bed along with a snack vending machine and stoner DVDs and Xbox)
