I agree with Dude. “Disney’s Gay Days”…really? How misleading is this whole “article”? I’m probably being harder on you guys as I should be. ITM used to be a trusted brand and source to me. And I more or less considered you guys journalists. Now I see that ITM has jumped the shark and is clearly pushing a social agenda, or at least the author Adam is. That is evidenced by not only this article but the fact that Adam jumped into the fray and added his own social commentary in the comments section of the article about giving Elsa a girlfriend. Maybe it’s just a lack of experience. In any event it just appears that Ricky outsourced ITM to some people lacking some journalistic maturity. Honestly, that is what offends me. I’m actually pro gay!

Again, what is misleading about this article? She will be performing there at an event, those are the facts. The original report is from James Tutten of the Orlando Sentinel, where we got all the info for this article. Perhaps you can forward any issues you have about journalistic maturity to that publication. And you are right, we are a trusted brand and source and will continue to do so. We report on everything happening at the theme parks and much more, so keep reading!

Looking forward to Disney’s Dapper Day.

Ricky Brigante is one of the world’s foremost experts on Disney. I don’t know anything about James Tutten but I’m willing to bet he doesn’t know as much about Disney as Ricky. So you guys should know better. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you get your information from the Harvard Business Review or the National Enquirer. You printed it so you’re responsible for it.

The biggest problem I had with the article was that you called it “Disney’s Gay Days.” I see that you guys have edited the article so it reads more clearly now. I’ll give you credit for that.

Agreed, seriously thinking about finding a better source of Disney news, sans the social agenda articles thank you. No more podcasts, and now two articles of this nature within a day. No thanks.

Both “social agenda” articles were sourced from Entertainment Weekly and Orlando Sentinel about two directly related topics to this blog. We will continue to report on any and all Disney news, theme parks, movies, entertainment and much more. Thanks for reading!

You’re absolutely right. Idina Menzel made the Frozen girlfriend topic a news story when she commented on it. Both stories are legitimate–I’ll give you that. But this all points to the new direction of the website. Even the Disney-related coverage has taken a different slant. And it also blurs the lines of opinion pieces at times. It is absolutely your prerogative to report on whatever you want, and in the way you want to do it. But in the process of these changes, a lot of the DNA of ITM is changing and it’s alienating fans that have followed Ricky for a decade. It’s just change management, right? I admire and respect Ricky for the business he has built. It’s remarkable! I have no doubt he will reach a wider audience and the business will be even more successful. I get it. That’s America and I don’t fault you guys for that. But for some of us the magic is waning. Just being honest. But I still wish the best for your entire team.

Well said, and my feelings exactly.

People please go to church, read your bible and learn that this lifestyle is wrong. God gave us the greatest gift to be able to take part in his greatest miracle which was to create life. This lifestyle can’t procreate life.

God is supposed to love everyone right? God gave everyone life in which they are supposed to be comfortable and love right? So why did God make some people uncomfortable with the gender they are and uncomfortable loving men and would rather love women? Get over yourself. God loves everyone and God created everyone which means EVERYONE. If he didn’t love everyone he wouldn’t have created us the way we are gay, straight, transgender, black, white or anything else. He loves all because he created all. Not like you don’t win in your everyday like either, no I forgot you do no wrong because you can recite the bible.

but not ALL couples want to have children, so are they against God as well? I mean if thats our only soul purpose is to have babies, then do the rest of us go for hell for having protected sex? My son is transgender, he doesnt feel like he is the gender he was born with.. You can call it a disease if you like; but it doesnt change the fact that he’s never felt like a boy since he was very little.. So, whos fault is that then? Is it Gods fault? If so, then why would he send him to hell for being the way he is.. I think perhaps you need to stop reading the book of fallacies and start living in the real world, because gay people and transgender people are not going anywhere and they are not hurting anyone.. if anything, they need to protect themselves from bullies like you!

Your son has a mental illness. Be a responsible parent and get him the treatment he needs. Stop blaming people of faith and people with common sense for not wanting to enable his delusion and for resisting being forced to accommodate a lie, even if doing so MIGHT make him feel better. Women should not be made to put themselves at risk and allow men access to women’s bathrooms and locker rooms in order to satisfy the demands of political correctness.

Tell me, if a furry identifies as a raccoon, are we supposed to go along with that, too?

What difference does it make if it is an “official” Disney event or not? The fact is that it’s happening there so there is nothing misleading about the title or the article. Thanks for reading.

    1. Dude

Thanks for sticking up for your writer. It doesn’t change the fact that you are wrong and your writer apparently has no clue how to fact check otherwise he would know Disney has nothing to do with Gay Days. Giving Disney ownership to Gay Days in the title and article (Disney’s Gay Days) is totally misleading. Siting another source’s mistake is not a good excuse. It’s always good practice to fact check. Even so, being from Orlando Adam knows better. The false info is a move to generate more traffic. That’s fine the site needs to make money, understood. Just call it what it is.

  6. The author is incorrect in the name of the event. One Magical Weekend is bringing Kesha to Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Gay Disney week to celebrate LGBT pride.

Gay days is a different organization.

    Love is love.

  8. Jim

One Magical Weekend is an official event, and that’s what this article is about. I took a look at the onemagicalweekend.com site, and it’s clear this is an official LGBT event supported by Disney based on the access the event is given to all the parks. It’s not portrayed as anything else.

That said, it’s also odd to me how sexualized of event this is. Take a look at the official site. It’s filled with pictures of men in tight, barely there swim trunks. The official video for the event talks about how as part of the event, they are featuring a number of the hottest male dancers.

Does Disney sanction/support to the same event similar events for heterosexual men? What if there was an organization that wanted to hold the ultimate “Spring Break Weekend” type events, and the posters that now clearly show men, showed women in similar poses and outfits. And what if like this video, the dancers highlighted were women wearing very skimpy outfits, etc. There would be complaints everywhere.

My point is neither this highly-sexualized homosexual or the fictional heterosexal event I described seem to have any place at Disney.

    1. RealGirl

It is not an official Disney event in support of Gay Days. And as for the sexually-provocative pictures…well, that’s probably because there’s a lot of acting-out from gay park guests on Gay Days. I have seen it myself. No parents should take their kids to the parks on those days. What happens is almost as bad as what happens during Gay Pride parades (what are they proud about? Acting like oversexed twits?)
