Tradition? I remember being in line for the first Star Wars, in June ’77. No costumes. “Camping out in long lines” was all about trying to be early enough to actually get a darn ticket, since it would probably be showing on only one screen, even if the theater had three.
Let us now play the world’s smallest violin for PT-era fans who can’t be allowed to dress up to go to a movie. 🙁
