At least it’s satisfying to know it was a safety issue shutdown, and not the slow decline of an attraction built too big for its audience, like Wide World of Sports…Those always make me feel sort of guilty.
It was not a “safety issue shutdown”. Far from it. It was shutdown because they aren’t making enough money from the land use, and would rather use this valuable land, so close to the Magic Kingdom main entrance, for parking. They make much more money from theme park visitors than racing fans.
There was never a fatal accident at The Walt Disney Speedway. That accident happened at an exotic car diving experience on at another Disney attraction property!.

Speedway is a different attraction. Misleading headline.

This was actually called the “Walt Disney World Speedway” as it is in the title, do not get it confused with the “Tomorrowland Speedway”.

Oh, good, then the fatal accident on property had nothing to do with it.
