Go back to it’s original name, MGM! That’s what I’ve been calling it and will call it until the day I die. They can change the name a gazillion times it’s STILL going to be MGM! Oh yeah, and bring back “Sorcery in the Sky” now that the hat is down!
Disney needs to ditch the holllywood part and change it to “Disney’s World of Imagination” or “Imagination Studios”. The host of the park would be Figment and Dreamfinder and it would focus not only on movies but also on all creative mediums such as video games, VR, youtube, TV, comics, animation, programming and everything creative. Host the youtube meetups that are held once a year and get people like google and facebook involved in the development.

Child: But the name says you’re a studio!
Iger: Well, we’re not a studio anymore. We used to be, to make inexpensive TV shows, but then they stopped making those, and the expensive ones all went to Vancouver. That’s why Universal had to change, too.
Child: So, that’s why you’re not “MGM”?
Iger: No, MGM stopped making shows here either. But they let us keep Wizard of Oz in the Great Movie Ride.
Child: But what happened to that music video you kept making at the end of the Backlot Tour?
Iger: Fake, kid…Er, I mean, “Just part of the Disney magic.”
Child: So, that’s why you built the hat?
Iger: Yep–The perfect image to capture Disney movie magic.
Child: But you’re tearing it down!
Iger: Well, yes, it’s not “Hollywood”.

I was just listening to the Inside the Magic shows 140-147 (I went back and listened when Ricky took a hiatus) and wondering if they’d have to change the name again. Like, if it would just be a thing with that park because the sentimental feelings people get for movie experiences tend to be generational.
Also, the point Ricky & Paul made on show #143 made sense to me. There’s really nothing short and catchy to call this park. “Meet us over at Hollywood.” Might be confused with Hollywood Beach, FL. And, “Meet us over at Disney.” doesn’t get specific enough. From a pragmatic and marketing standpoint I don’t think either name for this park worked perfectly and I’m eager to see what they come up with.
Seriously–Judging from the last comment, I think Iger’s starting to get that impatient Song-of-the-South glaze over his eyes every time fans ask him when they’re going to build Star Wars Land at the Studios.
I think it’s time to back off for our own good…Ix-nay on the ew-nay and-lay, at least until Ep. VII comes out, and then we’ll find out whether they were even planning anything to begin with.

Which of the future names would you like for Disney to change that park at some point?
1. Disney Studios
2. Disney Studio Adventure
3. Disney Movie Kingdom
4. Walt Disney Studios Park Florida
5. Disney-TCM Studios
4. Disney-Warner Bros. Studios
6. Disney Hollywood Kingdom
7. Disney-ABC Studios Park
Yeah I think so too. I bet if that happens, that park would be jointly own by Disney and Turner (owned by Time Warner) and Disney would add a lot of Turner-owned properties to their park like not only TCM stuff, but as well as other Turner stuff like Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, etc. if they get the rights to use them. That way the park would be focused on both Disney and Turner stuff. What did you think of that?

You do know that they dropped Mar because the licensing agreement expired? So they can’t use that name any longer.

I would love that, but not in Hollywood Studios. That definitely seems like more of an EPCOT and Communicore idea.

I’d call it Disney’s Magic of the Movies Park! That way they can keep adding to it but the name wouldn’t need changing again.
