I for one wish that they would re-design the outside of these hideous hotels. Stayed at the Boardwalk Villas a few months ago and my only view out of the room was at these eye-sores. Ugly coral colors and sharp out of place shapes. Not very pleasing to the eye, but I guess if you’re staying inside one of these atrocities you never have to see the place when you’re in your room.

I think that this is going to make the resort better, however, having nice rooms would not make me want to stay there. I never have, and I dont see a reason for me to. When I stay on property its because I want to be enthralled in Disney magic. I know that this not a Disney resort in the way the Polynesian is, however I dont see how this type of renovation will increase their numbers. Just my 2 cents.
P.S. its one of the ugliest resorts on site…..start there.

I am excited by this news! I have stayed at the Swan twice on family trips and the Dolphin once for our honeymoon (where they upgraded our room to a beautiful suite). The first and main reason for staying, is their very reasonable rates, I qualify for the teacher discount, so staying there allows us to almost double the length of our trip versus staying anywhere else nearly as close! Which brings me to my next point, you can not beat the “off property proximity.” You can walk to Boardwalk in under 5 minutes and it is a short ferry ride to Epcot or Studios, and I’ve never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. The rooms are clean and well-sized, the pool area fun, yet relaxing, and the restaurants, gift shops, and spa are top-notch. I know its easy to knock the “weird” outside decor, but really give this resort a chance!!! I can not wait to check out the renovations on our next visit!!!
