During the closing ceremony of Star Wars Celebration Europe today, it was announced that the next Star Wars Celebration will take place in Anaheim, California, down the street from Disneyland.

Star Wars Celebration V and VI in the United States drew tens of thousands of “Star Wars” fans to Orlando in 2010 and 2012, but Lucasfilm is now moving the event from Walt Disney World’s home to that of Disneyland, scheduled for April 16-19, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

With Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm late last year and their long-running partnership, it makes sense to keep the official event close by the theme parks, especially with ongoing rumors of new Star Wars attractions on the way.

Episode VII is also set to be released in summer 2015, so the next Star Wars Celebration is sure to be one of the biggest ever.

Star Wars Celebration is the official Lucasfilm event for fans to celebrate all things Star Wars, with special celebrity guest appearances, announcements, and plenty of exhibits to explore. Plus, like any pop culture convention, many fans gather in costume for some of the most elaborate cosplay in any galaxy.
