    Amazing!

Gorgeous, but imagine if they put in that much work into a land people actually wanted to visit.

Btw. I’m not trying to be harsh but I’m more impressed by Bugs Land since its a place that doesn’t exist in our reality (and to be honest me and my kids got tired of that pretty quick). I’ve seen old time towns every time we drove cross country and they weren’t interesting in real life and I’m not interested in it as a slightly modified version built around Mater and the Cars franchise. Hopefully MK Fantasyland update will deliver because this isn’t really enticing me to visit DCA more than once.

Where in your reality is there a place where cars have eyes and talk, move about on their own, and everything is built around cars instead of people?

You better check to see if you have a gas leak or something in your house if this is how you see the world in your reality.

Carsland is as alien and otherworldly as Bugsland.

Oh really? Read outloud what you wrote, because not only does that sound harsh, it sounds snarky and mean-spirited.
You say that you are not trying to sound harsh? Yeah, right. You aren’t fooling anyone.

The whole point of this land is for the Route 66 theme (along with a Disney character twist) It fits for California Adventure.

Not sure if you even know this, but the Pixar filmmakers went on a research trip across Route 66 to prepare for the film, and all of the buildings, characters, and landscapes in Radiator Springs are DIRECTLY inspired by real people and places that they found on Route 66.

And the Imagineers went on their own search trip on Route 66 to help build this land, and that inspired many things that were not even seen in the film.

I don’t care what anyone says. I loved the “Cars” movies, and I love the message in Cars about the journey being the reward, not the finish line.

Those shots of the Cadillac Ridge (or whatever they have to legally call it) are AMAZING.

I can’t stand the Cars movies (literally, I have only been able to sit through about 9 minutes of either of them) but I would be so amazed and dazzled if I was in person looking at this.

I also can’t stand Autopia and am not a fan of race cars in general, but I would stand in line for 2 hours to ride the RSR just to see the views and all the details up close.

I know that I will love eating all the food in Carsland. I will love looking at all the sights.

Can you imagine how cool Tomorrowland would be if they took this much time and put this much money and attention into creating a space-and-future-themed land that is on par with the attention to detail and creativity they put into Carsland?

Wow, just wow! The inside sets remind me of the scope of the scenes at the old World of Motion at EPCOT, which ironically was replaced by Test Track, which obviously has a connection to RSR. I for one loved the first Cars movie, and can stand to watch it a couple of times a year, but the second one was beyond disappointing.

Am I missing something? The inside of this ride looks cheap to me. The cars have video projected eyes and the mouths are hard sculpt and if they do animate, which the solid pieces don’t seem to, they will have simple puppet movement. What’s up with the beach balls at the flying tires? You can’t say that doesn’t look cheap. The only thing that looks impressive is the rockwork and I don’t care about rockwork when I’m hoping for a spectacular ride like Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s about the interior show not the facade. This looks like a lot of exterior eye candy with no content. I’ll wait a year or two before my family considers flying into Southern California to see this.

Don’t be so quick to judge based on a handful of photos. Though I completely understand what you’re saying, there’s much more to the experience than what’s here. They demoed the animated eyes and mouths of the Cars figures back at the first D23 Expo in 2009 and it was impressive in person. I haven’t seen it for myself but early reports suggest Radiator Springs Racers is a winner all the way through.

As for the beach balls… it’s not to be taken too seriously. Just a fun and unique activity that’s a throwback to a Disneyland attraction of the past. It’s not for everyone, but get a large group to ride together and it’s like a pool party on a giant air hockey table.

Check the POV videos that have been posted on YouTube. The inside of the ride is anything but cheap. Yes, you’re missing something.

I’m super excited to take my son to disneyland for the 1st time and cars land will be there!!! I know he’ll love it because hes obsessed lol! but im concerned about him being able to ride all the rides he’s only 3 1/2 and 40″ tall! cars land link doesnt give that info yet???

    1. Ann

jlw2961 – I *think* I saw a Disney post somewhere that said 40″ for RSR. Since I don’t have kids I didn’t commit it to memory. Let’s hope I’m right!

This looks stunning! The artistry and level of attention to detail is amazing. This seems to be the wave of the future (be it here, or at the truly stunning Wizarding World of Harry Potter) to create these veryimmersive environments that fully transport visitors to another place. We usually visit Disney World Florida every year, but this year we will be going to visit Disneyland CA instead!

I went to Cars Land on Monday 6/11. I rode all three rides, checked out each of the restaurants and cruised through the shops. The best things in Cars Land is the Radiator Springs Racers. It starts out as a tour through the amazing straight-from-the-movie town of Radiator Springs before you take off and race another car full of people. Very Cool.
Louigi’s Floating tires was so-so. The tire is supposed to move in which ever direction the riders lean. It doesn’t work as well as it should. The beach balls are there as an added ‘fun’ bonus.
Mator’s junkyard Jamboree is the funnest of the rides for kids and the kid at heart. Mator’s jokes and songs are probably the best part of the ride, IMHO.
That saddest part of the Cars Land experience is Disney’s obsession with trying to get every dollar from your pocket. There are 4 shops in town with pretty much the same merchandise in each store. And while you’re waiting in line for the rides, they now send cast members through with cold drinks and treats for sale.
There aren’t any kids in my life, so I didn’t feel obligated to purchase anything.
The food in Flo’s Diner is on par with the food in any of Disney’s other restaurants as far as taste and price go.
I’d go again, but AFTER summer when the lines have gone down. I’m pretty sure the Racing ride will have Fast Pass, but I didn’t see it setup on this visit. It may have been under wraps as thsi was just a preview day.
    I hope this helps.

Again, the ride is cool, but the music in line is torturous…reminds me of some amatuer guy in Nebraska trying to sing to his girlfriend …torturous is not an exaggeration…then look at the guys in the uniforms…complete opposite… even the music in Mator’s ride is better! I hate folk music and most people do!!!! Try some 50’s hot rod music or anything else!! PLEASE!!!

  10. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great.
I don’t know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
