  1. Families with picky eaters should make sure they feed their kids chicken nuggets or pizza before the meet-and-greet. 🙂

Glad to see Marie brought her Baguettes to the menu for at least one item!

  3. Katie

I wouldn’t be opposed to them adding the requisite nuggets and pizza to the menu for picky eaters, but I am sure glad there are other options! I can’t imagine feeding my kids only mac and cheese, pizza and chicken nuggets for days and days on end. Hooray for change!

I agree! We usually stay at Disney for about 2 weeks and that stuff gets old quick! I love that they can choose steak! Yum, my kids will love that.

I’ve always wondered about parents who only give their kids chicken nuggets or pizza. I think that “picky eater” stuff is a crock. More like “lazy parent” who finds it easiest to take frozen stuff out of the fridge and dump it in the microwave for the kids. Whatever did children eat before chicken nuggets and pizza were invented? Clearly they must have eaten something.

I would not say picky eating is a crock. True you have some valid points for some people, but not all. Believe it or not but there are adult picky eaters also. So don’t judge everybody the same!

My daughter is a picky eater. She vomits at textures and smells. She won’t eat any meat because it repulses her. I wouldn’t call myself a lazy parent at all. I brought it to her pediatrician’s attention and combed the internet and books for ideas. I cook creatively and nightly. She doesn’t eat the same thing as the rest of us always but she is healthy and amazing. She eats apples nonstop and I am proud of my picky eater. You sir are closed minded and judgmental. I feel sorry for the closed minded, insulting children you will raise.

      1. Kimmie

wow, Jeff, do you even have kids?

    3. Jay

I completely agree with you, Jeff. Picky eating in children is adults being lazy or unwilling to put up with their kid sulking! When I was a kid, I got given a meal, if I didn’t eat it, I’d stay hungry. It drives me nuts when I’m at WDW because my kids won’t eat that junk but it’s pretty much all there is on the kids menu!

Thats a lousy thing to say…im 67 and have always been a super picky eater and of my 5 kids 2 are picky eaters…i didnt want them to grow up like me, and i tried and tried to get them to eat other things, but all it caused was crying, and gagging, and such turmoil at dinner time…and theres no way i was lasy either..you owe some of us an apology

What, no grey stuff? I hear it’s delicious!

This menu looks great, with sophisticated food that’s not pretentious the way this type of menu can sometimes be. And I like that the kid’s menu has better offerings than the standard chicken nuggets and pizza. I agree with Jeff to a point that often times kids are “picky” because they are allowed to be.

I agree with Jeff and Frosty about the ‘picky eaters’. There was no picky eating in my house, you ate what I served you or you went without. My son loves and eats just about anything, except for Brussel Sprouts. The menu looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it and I know my son will enjoy the Salmon.

    1. That’s the policy in our family as well, but my kids (3.5 & 1.5) are still picky eaters. They frequently choose to go without.

I think Luke Manning from the Disneyland Gazette podcast would agree with me that it isn’t the parents fault if someone is picky, I’m 20 and still picky, and for me, it looks like I’d have fun i the environment but not enjoy the menu. The question is, will this restaurant do the same thing as other restaurants in the Disney parks, where, if they have the materials to make it, they will make it for you even if it isn’t on the menu. For instance, if they have bread and tuna, could they make a tuna sandwich for someone, or grilled cheese. I for one would gladly pay for those at this or the Carthay Circle in DCA just so that I can get a chance to be in those restaurants. And when it comes to other menu items, i would love if every restaurant that has pasta has all sauces and you could “build your own”, same with the pasta itself. Like if they have options of spaghetti, tortellini, corkscrew noodles, ravioli (cheese or spinach), etc, and sauce options could be regular tomato, alfredo, gorgonzola, and other sauces.

Be Our Guest is not Olive Garden. 🙂 In my opinion, a great restaurant is about food first, environment second, even in a Disney park. Both can be great, but the menu should be the star. Magic Kingdom is seriously lacking in quality food. Hopefully this restaurant will change that notion, even if some guests find the menu to be a turnoff. There will always be other ordinary options elsewhere. It’s not a ride, it’s a place to eat.

      1. Sherry Hicks

I agree with you,Ricky! There are many other places to eat if they don’t like it. This is a wonderful addition to the MK!

      2. OT

You are right Ricky, I hope this is a change but some crème brulée would have been nice.
Disney is all about adventure, doing someting different than when you are at home. Why not try to eat something new. Maybe even adult food. Maybe you like it and have an even more enriched experiance then when you had the same old spageti and meatballs, pizza’s and chickenfingers.

I’m THRILLED to see options beyond chicken nuggets and pizza. My daughter got so bored with her options when we were there in April. I ate her meals sometimes while she ate mine. I wish more of the restaurants at WDW had better, more diverse, healthier choices.

  9. Kurt

I don’t get what all of the talk about picky eating is about. There’s a difference between a kid who is a picky eater and only eats pizza and chicken nuggets, and a kid who orders a Thyme-scented pork rack chop with au gratin pasta.

I do have to say that the new dining options will be fantastic, but I do think Disney should still dull down the kid’s menu for the more picky type of eaters.

Good parents don’t force their kids to eat food they don’t want to. Good parents force their kids to eat food as long as they like it and it’s healthy.

Picky eater does not equal bad parent. That is just outrageous. I have one picky eater, one very adventurous eater and one in between. They are all happy, healthy, and well-mannered children. They are nice to others, polite to adults and well liked by their peers. We may or may not choose to eat at Be Our Guest, but if we do, our picky eater will do his best with what is offered and we will make sure he gets something he likes at another meal. It is pretty simple and shockingly, doesn’t require passing judgement on others!

  11. Dustin

YES!!!!! its about time they finally add something different and WDW starts going the Disneyland way with different food options inside the theme parks (yes I know they have different options at the resorts, but that takes too much time out of the theme parks imo). This looks good. PLUS… come on people, we can all eat a gosh darn strip of steak. Its time we give a wider pallet of options to our kids.

  12. Lisa

Picky eater comments aside… This is not character dining, correct? Just a nice restaurant for the non-nugget child?

    1. Ricky Brigante

Correct, it’s not character dining. But there will be a lifelike animatronic Lumiere in the meet-and-greet next door (along with Belle, of course). Gaston will likely frequent the area too, particularly his tavern.

  13. Michael

Um… Where’s the gray stuff that is supposed to be delicious?

  14. Really wanted to try the Grey Stuff. Though I also don’t see Beef ragout, Cheese souffle, Pie and pudding “en flambe” which I would have thought would be on the menu.

  15. Sarah Scott

I think the menu sounds great but am even more excited about the ability to have the food delivered to my table at what, I am assuming, is a CS restaurant at lunch? I’m a single mom so the literal juggling of kid and food and drinks and bags, etc. while trying to find a table is always a challenge.

  16. JR

I don’t know any kids that would eat whole-grain Macaroni.

    1. Melissa

      Mine will!

  17. Brandy

This sounds amazing- except for the desserts. Seriously, the French are pastry kings! And the dessert here is- a cup cake?!?! underwhelming. So- dinner here, then DOLE WHIP for dessert!
BTW my kids LOVE whole wheat pasta with good olive oil and shaved parmesan, but they won’t touch that kraft blue box crud! It is all in what you get them used to! I will be interested to see how the new lunch service concept works- not quick service, not full service.

  18. Emma

The food sounds DELISH but. like others have said, I’m still disappointed there’s no “beef ragout, cheese souffle, pie and pudding en flambe” on the menu! And I would LOVE to see a chocolate mousse or something similar on the dessert menu that’s simply called “the grey stuff.” The description could just say, “try the grey stuff – it’s delicious!”

I think this menu is fantastic. My kids always got tired of nuggets and mac and cheese by about the 3rd day. Surely everyone can find something their children will eat on this menu…even if it is just the veggies. And for the person that mentioned the ‘meet and greet’, there are no characters at this restaurant.

  20. Melissa

So glad to see that chicken nuggets & pizza are NOT on the menu. Can’t wait to try it. Get tired of the same old same old at some of the restaurants. Don’t want my kids eating junky fried crap all week! Kuddos to WDW & this new restaurant!

  21. Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon every day.

It’s always useful to read through articles from other writers and practice a little something from their websites.
