Following a construction tour visit from Disney President and CEO Bob Iger and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs, Disneyland has announced that Cars Land and Buena Vista Street will have a grand opening date of June 15, 2012.
But those excited to see the new additions should take note that to accommodate a media preview and make final preparations for the attraction debuts, Disney California Adventure will be closed to the public on June 14.
The opening of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street will mark the completion of a 5-year $1 billion+ renovation project that has brought new life to the Disney California Adventure theme park.
Iger and Staggs yesterday rode several of the new Cars Land attractions, including Radiator Springs Racers and Luigi’s Flying Tires as well as the Red Car Trolley along Buena Vista Street. All of that has now been announced to open to the public on June 15, along with the new Carthay Circle Theatre and many more shops, restaurants, and attractions.

Also reopening on June 15 will be the newly-enhanced Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland Park.
And debuting at Disney California Adventure this summer will also be the new Mad T Party in Hollywood Land and the new Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop at Pacific Wharf.
As with any of Disney’s new attractions, there is a possibility of a preview or soft opening period prior to the June 15 grand opening date for the Disney California Adventure additions, but nothing is guaranteed to be accessible before that date.

Ricky, this is an exciting time for the California Adventure/Disneyland pass holders. Awesome inside coverage of the investment about to “go public.”
