A Disneyland refurbishment crew member in full safety gear welds metal with bright sparks flying, surrounded by tools and equipment as work continues inside the Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction.

The iconic Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction at Disneyland in California has been closed for a few weeks as part of a 6-month long refurbishment project and today Disney has offered an inside look at what’s going on within the mountain’s snowy walls.

Take a peek inside the update via the new video below, released by Disney today.

The biggest change for the classic steel roller coaster is the addition of new individual seat ride vehicles with lap bars instead of seat belts. These new vehicles offer guests a chance to comfortably sit on their own, rather than in the lap of another passenger.

The iconic blue and white bobsled coaster cars on Disneyland’s Matterhorn sit empty on the track, surrounded by lush trees and classic park fencing, eagerly waiting to whisk guests away on their next thrilling ride after a scheduled refurbishment.

The Matterhorn is also receiving a new station for single riders and guests needing special assistance, as well as a general sprucing up on the inside and out, with new a paint job and lighting being added.

Cast members work on refreshing the scenic railway tracks at the outdoor area near the park’s station, surrounded by lush trees and themed fencing.

Crew members in safety vests carefully clean the rocky peaks of Disneyland’s legendary Matterhorn Bobsleds with brushes and spray, working beneath scaffolding to prepare the beloved attraction for its next adventure.

Most notably, the video states that the Matterhorn Bobsleds will reopen on June 15, 2012 – also the rumored (though not confirmed) date on which Cars Land will open at the Disney California Adventure theme park.

A digital countdown clock displays "080 00 40 505" above the Matterhorn Bobsleds refurbishment sign at Disneyland Resort, marking the anticipation for the 2012 attraction's reopening.

Also worth noting from the video among many shots of construction is a quick glimpse inside the basketball court that exists inside the mountain:
