The Hobgoblin, with his signature hood, glowing orange eyes, and aged, wrinkled skin, locks eyes with guests in an intense stare straight from the action-packed Spider-Man ride at Universal Orlando.

Leading up to next week’s webcast announcement event, Universal Orlando has begun teasing out preview images surrounding the new and updated experiences that will be unveiled.

The first teaser image offers a detailed look at a new design for the Hobgoblin, one of the villains featured in The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride at Islands of Adventure (click to enlarge):

A menacing hobgoblin character with glowing eyes and green-tinted skin, wearing a shadowy hood, stands ready to greet thrill-seekers as part of the park’s immersive dark adventure attraction.

Back in May, it was announced that the Spider-Man ride would be receiving a visual upgrade this year, replacing its 3D projections with newly-rendered, 4K HD visuals. It seems the characters themselves are receiving a makeover as well. With the announcement, Universal had also released an image of Spider-Man as he’ll appear in the highly-detailed updated version of the attraction:

Spider-Man crouches in a shadowy alley at Universal Orlando Resort, with city skyscrapers, the iconic Oscorp building, and a glowing Universal Orlando sign lighting up the night behind him.

Universal’s webcast announcement is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 25, 2012, next Wednesday. In addition to talking Spider-Man, they’re expected to reveal more about the upcoming Despicable Me ride as well as a new nighttime lagoon show and daytime parade.
