While she wasn’t scheduled to begin appearing at the Magic Kingdom until Friday, the new Pirates of the Caribbean character Angelica began meeting theme park guests in Adventureland today. The new character appears equipped with plenty of attitude, speaking with a Spanish accent not quite as thick as that of actress Penelope Cruz, who will plays the role in the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth in the Pirates series.

Angelica, daughter of Blackbeard, was meeting guests near the entrance of Adventureland today but will ultimately be part of her own small show near the Pirates League next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, from which the film series was created.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sails into theaters on May 20, 2011 and will have its grand black carpet premiere at Disneyland in California on May 7.
