New to Disney’s pirate world is a character named Angelica, Blackbeard’s daughter and companion to Jack Sparrow on the hunt of the Fountain of Youth in the upcoming film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” And beginning April 15, more than a month before the movie hits theaters, guests visiting Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme park will have a chance to meet and interact with Angelica, “a world-famous pirate with a reputation for skill and cunning.”
Disney announced the new character-driven experience earlier today, noting that Angelica will be “fresh from her pursuit of the Fountain of Youth” when she makes her Adventureland appearance. She’ll be joined by “several loyal crewmen” near the Pirate’s League, looking for new recruits.
Angelica is played by Hispanic actress Penelope Cruz in the film. There’s no word as to whether the theme park version of Angelica will be any easier to understand.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” launches on the big screen on May 20, 2011.
